Whether it is worth buying depends less on unverified claims about taste or speed than on whether you want this single-serving milk workflow—and whether the exact EN500W listing you find is in good condition and covered by useful return and warranty terms.
What the EN500W does
The 2017 EN500 manual describes a machine built around Nespresso Original capsules, with espresso and lungo selections and one-touch cappuccino and latte macchiato preparation. Milk is held in a removable jug rather than a separate pitcher you froth by hand. Use Nespresso Original capsules
The EN500 manual specifies Nespresso Original capsules. Do not confuse these with Nespresso Vertuo capsules, which belong to a different system. If considering a third-party capsule, check its packaging for explicit compatibility with Nespresso Original machines; the manual does not establish compatibility for every alternative capsule.

Choose espresso, lungo, or a milk drink
The documented coffee selections are espresso and lungo. For milk drinks, the manual lists cappuccino and latte macchiato, prepared using the removable jug. The machine’s documented menu is therefore focused rather than broad: it is not a machine with a long list of programmable drink recipes.
Size, water, and used-capsule capacity
According to the 2017 EN500 manual, the machine measures 6.1 × 10.5 × 12.8 inches, has a removable 1 L water tank, and holds approximately 8–10 used capsules. Confirm the dimension order against the manual diagram when planning a tight space; the sequence is reproduced here as listed in the manual. The 1 L tank is modest, so frequent drink-making means more refills than with a larger-reservoir machine. The capsule capacity also means the used-capsule container will need periodic emptying rather than being a set-and-forget bin.

Cleaning and descaling
After milk drinks
Milk components need attention after use. The EN500 manual says the milk jug is dishwasher-safe. Follow the manual’s cleaning instructions for the jug and milk-system parts, and avoid leaving milk residue in the system between uses. The removable design makes the milk setup easier to clean separately than a permanently attached system, but it still adds cleanup compared with making espresso or lungo alone.

The manual recommends the Nespresso descaling kit. Follow the EN500 manual’s descaling procedure and any machine prompts; the recommendation is not evidence that other descalers will damage the machine. EN500 user manual and care instructions.

What to check before buying an EN500W
The exact EN500W’s current US stock, price, and warranty terms were not confirmed. A current De’Longhi US listing located for the Lattissima One is for the newer EN510W, so its price and variant-specific specifications should not be treated as EN500W details.
