The De’Longhi La Specialista Maestro Cold Brew (EC9885) is best suited to home coffee drinkers who want an involved espresso workflow, built-in grinding and tamping assistance, and a quick cold-drink option in one machine. It is less compelling if you want a small, low-maintenance appliance: T3’s reviewer found it capable but reported that dialing it in takes time, cleaning is a chore, and the machine is large and expensive.
One important distinction: its Cold Extraction mode makes a cold coffee drink in under five minutes using room-temperature water. That is not the same process as traditional cold brew steeped for hours. De’Longhi says the result should be chilled or served over ice; T3 found it came close to traditional cold brew in taste and texture, but did not perfectly replicate it.
What is the De’Longhi La Specialista Maestro Cold Brew?
It is a hands-on espresso machine with an integrated grinder, Smart Tamping assistance, a steam wand, and preset drinks. De’Longhi’s UK product page identifies its regional version as EC9885.M; the US support page uses EC9885M. Confirm the exact regional model and electrical specification before buying, since suffixes and power requirements are not interchangeable by assumption.

It also lists 15 grinder settings, five infusion temperature profiles, a cool-touch steam wand, and Smart Tamping. Those features offer room to adjust preparation, but the machine is not an automatic bean-to-cup appliance that removes the learning process.

How does the under-five-minute Cold Extraction mode work?
De’Longhi describes Cold Extraction as using room-temperature water and producing a drink in under five minutes. That time is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent measurement. The coffee guide recommends adding ice to the glass or refrigerating the drink until it reaches 4°C, then stirring well before drinking.
This is a fast extraction mode, not the usual long-steep method associated with traditional cold brew. The distinction matters if you are buying the machine specifically for a slow-steeped cold brew profile. T3’s reviewer judged that the machine’s cold drink came close to traditional cold brew in taste and texture, but did not perfectly reproduce it; that is one reviewer’s assessment, not a guarantee of equivalent results for every coffee or palate.

- PERSONALIZE WITH MY LATTE: Allows you to personalize and save your own recipes
- EASY TO CLEAN: Removable and dishwasher-safe parts for easy cleaning
The mode also behaves differently from espresso at the machine. De’Longhi’s manual says no pressure is produced for this drink, so the pressure gauge will not rise. A gauge that stays low during Cold Extraction is therefore expected, rather than evidence by itself that the machine is malfunctioning.

T3 reports that the machine delivered strong results across the drink options its reviewer tested and was quick to become ready. Its assessment is favorable on capability, but not on effortlessness: the reviewer says dialing in the machine takes time. The integrated grinder and tamping station make the workflow more unified, while still leaving the user involved in preparing coffee.

- PERFECT TEMPERATURE: Instantly reach the perfect temperature, thanks to Thermoblock technology, providing fast, precise, and stable temperature control.
- CAPPUCCINO & LATTE FROTHER: Frothing milk and alternatives is simple and easy, with an easy to use steam wand from silky, steamed milk to rich & velvety frothed milk.
- CUSTOMIZABLE PRESET RECIPES: With the customizable single or double espresso preset recipes, start brewing your preferred dose automatically.
- SLEEK, COMPACT DESIGN: The compact, stainless-steel Italian design features sleek, clean lines that fits seamlessly into any kitchen space or style.
For milk drinks, the listed presets include cappuccino, latte macchiato, and flat white, and the UK product page specifies a cool-touch steam wand. T3 flags cleaning as a drawback. The available review evidence does not establish a quantified cleaning time or a universal result for milk texture, so treat milk preparation as part of the hands-on routine rather than assuming the machine eliminates it.
What are the listed specifications?
The following are specifications on De’Longhi’s UK product page, which lists a 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz supply. They describe that regional listing and should not be applied to versions sold elsewhere.

| Specification | UK listing |
|---|---|
| Grinder | Integrated, 15 settings |
| Infusion temperature | Five profiles |
| Pump pressure | 19 bar |
| Water tank | 2.5 L |
| Weight | 16 kg |
| Dimensions with bean container | 419 × 368 × 465 mm |
| Electrical supply | 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz |
The 16 kg weight and listed dimensions make counter space and placement worth checking before purchase. The figures are regional manufacturer specifications, not a claim that every EC9885 version has the same electrical configuration.
Is the EC9885 worth it for your routine?
It may suit you if you enjoy making coffee
- You want an integrated grinder and tamping assistance, but still want to adjust and learn the preparation process.
- You make a range of espresso and milk drinks and value having several presets in one machine.
- You want a quick cold-coffee option and understand that Cold Extraction is different from a traditional long steep.
Consider another setup if convenience or space comes first
- You want a compact appliance or have limited counter space.
- You prefer minimal setup, adjustment, and cleaning. T3 specifically identifies dial-in time and cleaning as drawbacks.
- You expect the cold mode to reproduce traditional cold brew exactly, or you mainly want a traditional long-steep result.
This buyer-fit judgment follows from the listed workflow and T3’s review; it is not a user survey. T3 names the La Specialista Touch and Ninja Luxe Café as alternatives for people seeking a simpler or more budget-conscious option, but current specifications and prices for those models are not established here. Compare their local features, pricing, warranty, and footprint directly before choosing.

Where can owners find setup and troubleshooting help?
De’Longhi’s US EC9885M support center provides manuals and an accessories section. Its EC9885 help page covers issues including watery coffee, filter attachment, and cleaning the LatteCrema system. Start with the model-specific manual and your local support center, since naming and available support can differ by market.
