The De’Longhi Tasciugo AriaDry Compact DDS30COMBI is a compressor dehumidifier with an added Extra Power heating function. In Consumer NZ’s July 2016 test, it scored well for water removal and energy efficiency but only moderately at low temperatures; the same report called it noisy and heavy. Its 30 L/day rating is a warm-condition claim, not a typical daily result: Consumer NZ measured 6.1 L/day under its test conditions. CHOICE now lists the model as discontinued, so current availability is uncertain.
What the DDS30 Combi is—and what its extraction figures mean
De’Longhi identifies this model as the Tasciugo AriaDry Compact, model DDS30COMBI. It is a compressor (refrigeration) dehumidifier. Its headline 30 L/day figure is the claimed extraction rate at 30°C, not a promise of everyday output in a cooler home. In Consumer NZ’s July 2016 test, the unit measured 6.1 L/day under the report’s test conditions, which included lower-temperature measurements. Those figures describe different conditions and should not be treated as directly interchangeable. Consumer NZ’s test report provides the test context.
How it performed in Consumer NZ’s 2016 test
Consumer NZ gave the DDS30 Combi a 78% overall score. Its stronger marks were water removal and energy efficiency; low-temperature performance was its weakest component score. These are historical results from a New Zealand test published in July 2016, not a current retest or a guarantee of performance in every room.

The report’s extraction table covers specified conditions of 8°C, 12°C and 16°C as well as the warm-condition claimed rate. This distinction matters when choosing a machine for a cold room: a large rating at 30°C does not tell you how much moisture it will remove at lower temperatures. The NZ$72 estimate is also tied to Consumer NZ’s stated use pattern and historical tariff; it is not a current electricity-cost estimate.

Does the Extra Power heater make it better in cold rooms?
The Extra Power function is a genuine feature, but it is not a substitute for whole-room heating and does not erase the unit’s modest low-temperature test score. The manual says the function makes it easier to raise room temperature and that discharged air is generally warmer than the room. For very cold rooms, De’Longhi recommends heating them minimally to improve dehumidifying capacity. Treat this as manufacturer guidance, rather than evidence that the DDS30COMBI will match a purpose-built heater or perform as well in cold conditions as it does when warm. Noise, weight and day-to-day use
Consumer NZ recorded 56 dBA and 16.2 kg in its 2016 test, and described the appliance as noisy and heavy. Those measurements make placement and movement worth considering: it may be less appealing beside a sleeping or working area, and its weight can make frequent room-to-room transfers inconvenient. The manual shows castors, but they do not change the unit’s measured weight.

Tank emptying and continuous drainage
The DDS30COMBI can collect condensate in its tank or use a continuous-drain arrangement through a drain nozzle and access door, as shown in the manual. Consumer NZ reported a 4.5 L claimed tank capacity and measured 3.7 L in its 2016 test. If you rely on the tank, the difference is a reminder to check it rather than assume the claimed volume is usable in practice. Continuous drainage can reduce manual emptying when the unit is positioned near a suitable drain, but follow the manual’s setup instructions and verify hose and connector compatibility before buying an accessory; the available evidence does not establish a specific hose fit.

CHOICE lists the DDS30 Combi as discontinued. That does not establish whether an individual retailer still has old stock or whether a used unit is available, so check the seller and confirm the exact model code before purchasing. CHOICE’s listing also gates its expert rating and much of its test data to members; the Consumer NZ scores above come from Consumer NZ, not CHOICE.

Parts, cleaning and repair support
De’Longhi’s Australia/New Zealand spares page lists a filter and holder assembly for DDS30COMBI, code 0148730301, with the region/version identified as AU, NZ. The same page has a water-tank listing labelled DDS20; do not assume it fits the DDS30COMBI without checking directly with the parts provider. Check De’Longhi’s Australia/New Zealand parts listings and confirm the model and part code before ordering.
For filter cleaning, tank handling and drain setup, follow the DDS30COMBI manual rather than generic instructions for a different dehumidifier. De’Longhi’s repair guidance is explicit: “For any repairs always contact a Technical Service Centre authorised by the Manufacturer only.” The manual also says to insist on original spare parts. Download or consult the model instructions before maintenance or drainage setup.

Who should consider this model?
The DDS30 Combi may suit someone who already owns one, can source a compatible part, or finds a verified unit at a suitable price and values the combined dehumidifying and warming functions. For a new purchase, compare it against current alternatives using extraction at the temperatures your room actually reaches, low-temperature performance, noise, energy use for your own operating pattern and tariff, tank or drain practicality, weight, parts support and warranty. The historical test suggests strong relative water removal and energy-efficiency scores alongside a clear cold-performance and convenience trade-off; it does not establish how a current competing model would perform.
