The De’Longhi Classic EM450.M is a manual, semi-automatic espresso machine: you prepare the coffee and steam the milk yourself rather than choosing a drink from an automatic bean-to-cup menu. De’Longhi lists an adjustable cappuccino system, customizable coffee length, a pressure gauge and a 1.7 L water tank. Those are manufacturer specifications and feature descriptions—not proof of espresso quality or milk-frothing performance. CHOICE’s public page confirms basic product details, but its expert rating and detailed test results require member access.
What kind of coffee machine is the EM450.M?
De’Longhi describes the UK-market EM450.M as a manual coffee maker for espresso and cappuccino. CHOICE classifies it as semi-automatic. In practical terms, the machine does not replace the user’s role with a bean-to-cup drink menu: you operate the espresso workflow and handle milk steaming yourself.
That arrangement may suit someone who wants to take part in making espresso and milk drinks. It is less suited to a buyer whose priority is having a machine automate preparation. The available public evidence does not establish how the EM450.M compares with other machines in taste, ease of use or overall value.

De’Longhi lists four buttons and a knob for steam or hot water, a pressure gauge, and a setting to customize coffee length. The adjustable Cappuccino System is described as switching between steamed milk and creamy foam. These are product-page descriptions; accessible evidence does not establish the consistency of the foam, the quality of latte art, or espresso extraction results in use.

The machine uses Thermoblock heating. De’Longhi says this technology allows for quick heat-up and greater temperature stability, but that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified heat-up time or temperature test.

De’Longhi’s UK product page gives conflicting cup-clearance information: its technical data lists a maximum cup height of 110 mm, while promotional copy says the removable drip tray accommodates glasses up to 13 cm. The page does not reconcile the two figures, so check clearance against the cup or glass you plan to use rather than relying on a single definitive maximum.

Regional versions: check voltage before buying
The UK product page and manual describe a 220–240 V model. De’Longhi’s US product result lists a 120 V, 60 Hz version, but that page could not be opened and the available information is limited to its search-result text. These regional versions should not be assumed interchangeable.

Before ordering, confirm the exact model and electrical rating on the seller’s listing, as well as the plug, warranty region and included accessories. A matching model name alone does not confirm that a machine is appropriate for your country.

Cleaning and descaling
The De’Longhi-hosted manual advises cleaning the water tank about monthly and descaling when the orange indicator lights. It directs owners to use De’Longhi descaler and warns that an unsuitable descaler or an incorrectly performed cycle may cause faults not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Follow the manual supplied for your market, since instructions may differ by regional version.

What to check before purchase
- Confirm that the listing is for the EM450.M version intended for your country, including its voltage, plug and warranty region.
- Check what is included in the particular seller’s package; the manufacturer’s regional specification and package contents may not apply to every listing.
