Neither Dell nor HP can be called the financial winner in esports partnerships from the available public announcements: they disclose no comparable deal values or returns. What is clear is a difference in strategy. Alienware has a long-running relationship with Team Liquid, renewed through 2031, while HP’s OMEN and HyperX brands have a broad, multi-game partnership with Riot Games and visible tournament hardware integrations.
What “winning” means in this comparison
The evidence supports comparing the partnerships’ duration, reach, depth, and public activations—not ranking their revenue or effectiveness. Dell’s announcements emphasize a sustained relationship with one esports organization. HP’s announcements describe technology partnerships across several Riot esports properties, alongside product and event integrations. Neither set of disclosures establishes audience conversion, brand lift, competitive advantage, or return on investment.
The “billion-dollar battle” framing is not a documented valuation. The announcements cited here do not provide comparable financial terms, so a financial winner cannot be identified.

That makes Alienware’s Team Liquid deal a strong example of a long-term, organization-focused partnership. It does not, by itself, show how much the deal is worth or how well it performs commercially.
A separate, dated tournament activation
Alienware also had a tournament-facing presence at the 2025 BLAST.tv Austin Major. BLAST’s April 24, 2025 announcement named Alienware the event’s official PC, laptop, and monitor sponsor and said its 500Hz monitor would be used by competing players. This establishes a specific event sponsorship, not a continuing global league agreement. BLAST’s event announcement describes the arrangement.

HP’s multi-property partnership with Riot Games
On January 10, 2024, Riot Games named HP’s OMEN and HyperX brands official technology partners for three properties: LoL Esports, the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT), and TFT Esports. Riot also said the companies planned to co-develop future products for esports. The arrangement therefore spans multiple games and properties, rather than centering on a single team. Riot’s announcement sets out the named properties and the planned collaboration.

The update documents an expanded footprint, but it does not publish a financial value or a detailed term end date. The VCT Americas announcement gives the stated scope.

What the partnerships put on stage—and in products
HP has tied its Riot relationship to both event hardware and game-themed products. In an October 14, 2025 announcement, HP introduced the OMEN 16 League of Legends Limited Edition laptop, developed with Riot, and the OMEN 25 monitor. HP identified the OMEN 25 as the official display for global League of Legends and VALORANT esports events. The same release describes the OMEN 35L VALORANT edition as an earlier collaboration. HP’s product announcement includes those integrations.
HP stated that the OMEN 25 offers a 360 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time; actual specifications can vary, according to HP. The announced launch prices were $1,999.99 starting for the OMEN 16 League of Legends Limited Edition and an expected $419.99 starting for the OMEN 25. HP said price and availability were subject to change. These are manufacturer-announced details, not independent testing or a like-for-like performance comparison.

BLAST’s 2025 Austin Major announcement gives Alienware a clear hardware-on-stage example: its 500Hz monitor was selected for competing players at that event. That specific activation and HP’s broader OMEN 25 event designation are different kinds of evidence; neither announcement establishes which display is better for an individual buyer. Sponsorship selection is not an independent purchasing recommendation.

So, who is really winning?
On relationship longevity and depth with a single esports organization, Alienware’s Team Liquid partnership is the clearest documented example: Dell describes a 15-year relationship with work spanning facilities, content, testing, and community activity, now extended through 2031. On breadth across Riot’s esports properties and direct links between a publisher partnership, event hardware, and themed products, HP’s OMEN and HyperX arrangements have the broader documented footprint.
Those are strategy distinctions, not proof of commercial superiority. Without comparable deal values or outcome data, neither company can be declared the overall or financial winner on the evidence in these announcements.
