The three-foot (0.91 m) drop rating belongs to Dell’s Pro Rugged 14, a semi-rugged 14-inch laptop with Intel Panther Lake processor options. It is a stated product rating—not a guarantee that the laptop will survive every fall without damage. Dell’s separate Pro Rugged 13 Extreme is a different, fully rugged model reported with a six-foot (1.8 m) drop rating.
Which Panther Lake laptop has the three-foot rating?
Notebookcheck’s October 1, 2026 launch report says Dell rates the Pro Rugged 14 for drops from 3 feet (0.91 m). The report describes it as a semi-rugged laptop for field workers. Its 14-inch display has a 1,920 × 1,200 resolution, and reported processor options are Intel Core Ultra 5 335, Core Ultra 5 336H, and Core Ultra 7 366H.
A drop rating describes a product’s stated durability qualification; it does not mean every unit will be undamaged after any three-foot fall. The report does not provide a model-specific test protocol, impact surface, test configuration, or independent drop-test result, so it cannot establish how a particular fall will affect the laptop.
What else is reported about the Pro Rugged 14?
Notebookcheck lists configurations with 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB of serviceable LPCAMM2 memory and storage ranging from 512 GB to 2 TB. Display options include a 400-nit non-touch panel and configurations rated up to 1,100 nits; the touch option is described as usable with gloves and in wet conditions. These are reported specifications, not independent measurements.

How does it differ from the Pro Rugged 13 Extreme?
Dell introduced the Pro Rugged 13 Extreme alongside the Pro Rugged 14. Notebookcheck describes the Extreme as a fully rugged 13.3-inch laptop with a reported six-foot (1.8 m) drop rating and IP66 protection. Its reported specifications and ruggedness tier are distinct from those of the semi-rugged Pro Rugged 14.

What does a drop rating tell you—and what doesn’t it?
The three-foot figure is useful for identifying the Pro Rugged 14’s reported rating relative to the six-foot rating attributed to the Pro Rugged 13 Extreme. It is not a prediction that the laptop will remain functional after every fall from that height. Without the test surface, configuration, and protocol, the report does not show how the rating translates to a specific field accident.
Dell’s historical Latitude Rugged family brochure describes different durability levels across older products, including three-, four-, and six-foot drop categories. That history illustrates why rugged ratings must be tied to the exact model; it does not establish certifications or specifications for the 2026 Pro Rugged laptops.
