The Dell Pro 14 Plus Portable Monitor P1425 is a 14-inch, 1920 × 1200 USB-C display best suited to laptop productivity on the go. Its 16:10 screen, built-in adjustable stand, and up-to-65W power pass-through make it a capable second screen, but it has no HDMI input, runs at 60Hz, and is not a touchscreen. Buy it only if your host device can send video over USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode.
What the Dell P1425 offers
The P1425 combines a 14-inch IPS LCD with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 1920 × 1200 WUXGA resolution. That gives it more vertical workspace than a 1920 × 1080 portable display of the same width, useful for documents, spreadsheets, and side-by-side laptop work. Dell specifies 162 pixels per inch and a 60Hz refresh rate.
It is a productivity monitor rather than a high-refresh gaming screen. Dell lists a 7ms gray-to-gray response time, but that figure alone does not establish gaming performance. The 60Hz limit and USB-C-only inputs are more important practical constraints for many players.

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Dell’s brightness, contrast, color, and response-time figures should be read as stated specifications rather than guarantees of a particular user’s results. Dell lists a three-year limited hardware warranty with Advanced Exchange Service; warranty terms can vary by region, so confirm the offer where you are buying. How well does the screen perform?
Dell’s 400 cd/m² typical brightness and 1500:1 typical contrast are strong on-paper figures for a portable IPS display, while the 16:10 resolution makes the screen particularly suited to reading and office tasks. They are not a substitute for an independent test, however.
Tom’s Hardware reported colorimeter results of 71.3% DCI-P3 and 100.6% sRGB for its tested unit in 2025. Those are that publication’s measurements under its test method, not Dell’s coverage claims or a guarantee for every unit. Tom’s Hardware’s P1425 review provides the attributed test context.

Dell also displays a PCMag 4/5 rating and quotes PCMag calling the monitor “Easily the brightest non-OLED portable monitor we’ve tested, and its superb contrast and color accuracy cement its excellence.” That is PCMag’s assessment, not a test conducted for this article. Dell’s product page attributes the statement to PCMag.
Will the P1425 work with your laptop, phone, or console?
The key compatibility question is not whether a device has a USB-C-shaped port, but whether that port can output video using DisplayPort Alt Mode. The P1425 takes video through USB-C and does not have an HDMI input. A USB-C port used only for charging or data will not provide a picture.

- Laptop: Check the computer’s specifications for USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode or another supported USB-C video-output capability. If uncertain, consult the laptop maker’s documentation for the exact port.
- Phone or tablet: Confirm that the specific model supports wired video output over USB-C. The connector alone does not establish compatibility.
- HDMI-only source or game console: The monitor has USB-C inputs only, so an HDMI source cannot connect directly. RTINGS likewise notes that the P1425 is not suitable for console gaming because of its USB-C-only inputs.
Both USB-C ports support DisplayPort 1.2 Alt Mode and HDCP 1.4. Dell states support for up to 1920 × 1200 at 60Hz. RTINGS published its P1425 review on September 18, 2026, and describes the same portable 14-inch 16:10 display, adjustable stand, and up-to-65W USB-C pass-through. Its portable-monitor methodology does not cover every test used in standard desktop-monitor reviews, so its gaming results should not be treated as a full conventional-monitor comparison. What does power pass-through mean?
The second USB-C port supports power pass-through up to 65W, allowing a compatible setup to pass power through the monitor to a connected laptop. “Up to 65W” is the monitor’s stated capability, not a promise that every charger, cable, host, and connection arrangement will deliver 65W to the computer. Check the power requirements and charging behavior of your specific devices.

The monitor includes a 1m USB-C-to-USB-C cable. Whether you need another cable or a separate power adapter depends on your existing setup; the available specifications do not establish that a typical buyer needs to purchase either as a standard add-on.

The built-in stand adjusts from 10° to 90°, and Dell specifies portrait orientation with auto-rotation. That gives the display more placement flexibility than a portable monitor that relies on a separate cover or kickstand. Its weight is about 1.25 lb without cables or 1.36 lb with cables, according to Dell’s feature section, so it is light enough to carry with a laptop while still adding some bulk to a travel bag.

The screen has no touchscreen. If your workflow depends on direct touch input, or you need HDMI for a console or other source, this model does not meet that requirement.
What does the Dell P1425 cost?
Dell’s U.S. listing showed different prices across product-page variants—$259.99 and $244.99—in the October 7, 2026 pricing snapshot. Who should buy the P1425?
It makes sense if
- You want a compact second screen for writing, spreadsheets, or general laptop work.
- Your laptop or mobile device supports video output over USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode.
- You value a 16:10, 1920 × 1200 workspace, adjustable built-in stand, and USB-C power pass-through.
Look elsewhere if
- Your source device only outputs HDMI or lacks USB-C video support.
- You need a refresh rate above 60Hz, a touchscreen, or direct console connectivity.
- You need an independently verified performance result for a specific workflow that the available reviews do not test.
