The iPhone 15 Plus is Apple’s larger-screen model in the iPhone 15 family, announced in September 2023. You can recognize it by its 6.7-inch display, Dynamic Island, A16 Bionic chip, two rear cameras, and USB-C port. If you need to confirm a specific device, check its model number against Apple’s identification guide, because the model number also determines SIM-tray configuration.
Where the iPhone 15 Plus fits in the lineup
Apple introduced the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus together, as described in Apple’s launch announcement in its Newsroom. The two phones share the same chip and several core features. The Plus model differs mainly in its size: Apple lists the standard iPhone 15 with a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 15 Plus uses a 6.7-inch display.
The iPhone 15 Plus is a 2023 product. Apple has released later iPhone models since then, so if you are shopping or checking availability, confirm the current status of this model on Apple’s own pages rather than assuming it is still sold new.
How to confirm that a phone is an iPhone 15 Plus
Use these checks in order. Each one narrows the identification, and together they are more reliable than the appearance of the phone alone.

- Confirm the screen size. The iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch diagonal display. A 6.1-inch screen points to the standard iPhone 15.
- Find the model number on the device or its packaging. Apple assigns a different model number for each region.
- Match that model number to the table below to see which region it was sold for and whether it has a SIM tray.
- Check the storage capacity and color against Apple’s identification guide, which lists the available options.

Apple states that models sold in countries or regions other than the United States have a tray for a physical nano-SIM. The SIM description therefore depends on the model number, not on the model name alone, so do not rely on a physical SIM description for a U.S. unit.

How it differs from the iPhone 15
The most reliable difference between the two models is screen size: 6.7 inches for the iPhone 15 Plus and 6.1 inches for the iPhone 15. Apple’s launch announcement applies the A16 Bionic to both models, so the chip does not distinguish them. Model number, region, and storage options are the other practical ways to identify a specific unit. Dynamic Island is also named in Apple’s description of both models. Apart from screen size, the sources reviewed here do not describe further hardware differences between the two.

What Apple says about performance
Apple’s launch announcement states: “The fast and efficient A16 Bionic chip brings proven performance to iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, powering the Dynamic Island, computational photography capabilities, and more.” This is Apple’s own product claim. It is not an independent benchmark or review, so treat it as a description of the design intent rather than a measured result.

The iPhone 15 Plus charges over USB-C. Apple’s fast-charge specification calls for an adapter rated at 20W or higher, paired with a USB-C cable. Apple states that the adapter is sold separately, so buy one if you need fast charging.

An accessory that fits the iPhone 15 may not fit the Plus model, so check the model name in the listing before you buy.
