Deadlock reached a reported all-time peak of 236,730 concurrent players on October 6, 2026, the day Baba the Pigeon Lady became available. The timing links the milestone to her release, but it does not prove that Baba alone caused the increase.
Who is Baba in Deadlock?
Baba is a new Deadlock character Valve introduced in its October 6, 2026 update. Valve described her as “New York’s notorious pigeon lady” and announced, “Baba and her pigeons are available now!” (Valve update notes, via patch-note mirror)
The update presents Baba as a park-bench sitter who talks to birds. Her combat kit features Threadsap, a living bench, tea, and pigeons. (Character details)

How many players did Deadlock reach?
SteamDB recorded an all-time peak of 236,730 concurrent players on October 6, 2026. That is a third-party tracker’s reported simultaneous-player count—not the number of unique players, registered accounts, or people who own the game. (SteamDB)

Did Baba’s release cause the record?
The timing makes Baba’s arrival a plausible contributor to the new peak, but the available figures do not isolate her effect. The milestone came during a broader run of rising activity around updates, and other factors could have contributed.
For context, GamesRadar reported that Deadlock had surpassed 228,000 concurrent players on September 30, 2026, after an earlier major update that introduced multiple gameplay changes and six characters. That earlier peak preceded Baba’s October 6 release. (GamesRadar)

Both figures are concurrent-player measurements reported by third-party sources on specific dates; neither establishes how many distinct people played over a longer period. The evidence supports saying Deadlock set a new reported concurrent-player high on Baba’s release day, not that her debut by itself set the record.
