Baba’s kit pairs Spirit damage and conditional bullet damage with mobility, close-range disruption, cycling area utility, and a channelled single-target ultimate. That makes her a candidate for players who want several kinds of pressure in one pick—but the available evidence does not establish a definitive closest hero or a universally best replacement. Compare heroes by the job you want done: damage profile, mobility, team utility, and how much commitment their abilities require.
What Baba does in Deadlock
Baba was unlocked on October 6, 2026, according to the third-party Deadlock Labs Baba page. Her kit is best understood as a set of conditional tools rather than a settled meta identity. The ability values below are reported by deadlock.one’s hero overview, published October 7, 2026; they are not independent tests and may change with patches.
Threadsap: Spirit theft that can feed bullet damage
Threadsap sends a thread along the crosshair path, dealing Spirit damage and stealing enemy Spirit Power. While Baba holds stolen Spirit Power, her bullets deal bonus Spirit damage. The overview lists a 35-meter range, 50 damage, a 26-second cooldown, and up to 45 Spirit stolen. The bullet bonus is conditional: it is not a permanent passive.

Granny Long Legs grants movement speed, higher jumps, debuff resistance, and melee resistance. Light melee knocks targets back; heavy melee launches and slows them while dealing Spirit damage. The overview lists +5 m/s movement speed, +30% debuff resistance, and +30% melee resistance for the ability’s duration. Its movement tools can help Baba reposition, while the melee effects call for close-range interaction.

Baba’s Brew: a cycling area effect
Baba’s Brew can produce a soothing barrier, a silence, or a scalding damage-over-time effect that also reduces Spirit resistance. The ability therefore has defensive, control, or damage utility, but the result depends on the brew state when it is applied. The overview lists a 6-meter base radius and a 25-second cooldown. It also says the player can pause or resume brewing; the documented information does not establish a specific timing strategy.
Feed The Birds: a high-commitment control tool
Feed The Birds covers a target in bread during a channel, applying stacking slow. When the channel ends, pigeons deal Spirit damage and hex the target into a pigeon. The overview lists a 6.5-second channel, up to 450 base damage, and a 150-second cooldown. Those values make the ability a substantial commitment on paper; actual interruption, evasion, and hit rates are not established by the cited overview.

What to weigh against another hero
No reliable current direct comparison in the available sources identifies one named hero as Baba’s closest match. Rather than treating an analytics matchup table as proof of similarity, compare the kits on the questions that matter to your team and play style:

What early win rates can—and cannot—tell you
Two third-party snapshots accessed October 7, 2026 report different populations, so they should not be averaged or treated as a direct contradiction. Deadlock Labs reported a 41.6% win rate across 15,870 matches for all ranks in 2026. Its page cautions that new heroes often start lower and improve as players learn them. Deadlock API reported a 36.8% win rate across 76 Phantom 1+ matches, alongside a 0.1% pick rate, for its current season and rank filter in 2026. These are volatile third-party snapshots, not an official Valve ranking; the smaller filtered sample and different population make the second figure especially unsuitable as a general verdict on Baba.

Deadlock API also displays teammate and opponent win-rate-change tables. Those observational tables do not show that a pairing caused a win-rate difference, and the small filtered sample does not support definitive synergy or counter claims.

Baba is a reasonable candidate if you want to combine Spirit-based damage, a conditional window for bonus bullet damage, flexible area utility, mobility, and disruptive melee options. Before choosing her over another hero, decide whether you are comfortable with Threadsap’s conditional damage window, Brew’s cycling outcomes, and Feed The Birds’ listed channel and cooldown. Compare those tradeoffs with the other hero’s verified current kit rather than relying on an unproven “closest match” label.

Are hero avoidance rules relevant to this pick?
Valve’s January 30, 2026 Deadlock update note said hero avoidance was added for Standard Mode and Street Brawl, with two total bans initially, and that new heroes were excluded during their initial release window. That is historical context only; the note does not establish whether those precise rules remain current in October 2026.
