In Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Relics and Spoils are rewards you collect while exploring Norgan. You can’t rely on them until Jiera appraises them at the Norgandian Settlement in exchange for Rift Crystals, and the stats that appraisal reveals are randomized. A strong result and a weak one are both possible from the same kind of find. Capcom’s product listing gives the expansion’s release date as 9 October 2026, so the mechanics below come from pre-release guide coverage. Check them against the game once it is live.
What Relics and Spoils are
Relics and Spoils are the expansion’s terms for gear and loot gathered through exploration and combat in Norgan. According to the VGC guide to Relics, Spoils, and Appraisal, the main sources are gathering points, chests, and defeated enemies.

Rewards are not limited to weapons and armor. The same guide names Norgan Ducats, curatives, gold, and rare scrolls as other things you can pick up.

Before a relic can be used, it has to go through appraisal. The sequence below follows the VGC guide’s description of the loop.

- Collect what you find. Keep in mind that the items are unidentified until appraised.
- Return to the Norgandian Settlement. Jiera performs appraisal there.
- Pay Rift Crystals. Rift Crystals are the currency for appraisal. The exact amount per item is not stated in the official listing or the VGC guide.
- Review the revealed stats. Because the stats are randomized, check the result before you decide what to do with the item.
Should you appraise everything?
Appraising every item is not a proven best approach. VGC notes that appraisal has a cost and that the results are variably useful. The detailed unofficial relic guide on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 wiki adds that Rift Crystals also matter for hiring pawns. That makes appraisal a trade-off between two uses of the same currency.

- Do you have enough Rift Crystals to spare after planning for pawn hiring?
- Would an unknown result be worth spending crystals to find out, given that appraisal can produce a weak item as well as a strong one?
What is and is not established about appraisal
The sources support the overall loop: find the item, bring it to Jiera, pay Rift Crystals, and read the randomized result. They do not provide the following:
- Exact appraisal costs in Rift Crystals.
- Drop chances, roll probabilities, or the full range of possible stats.
- Any guarantee that a particular appraisal will produce a usable item.
Capcom’s product description says: “Unearth and appraise forgotten relics to unlock powerful new weapons and skills that will aid you on your journey.” That is promotional copy from the publisher, not an independent measurement of how strong the resulting items are.

Relics compared with Lost Rites
Capcom’s product listing also describes 12 Lost Rites dungeon challenges in the main area, with rare equipment in their depths. The table compares the two reward tracks using the sources available. Where a source is silent, the table says so.

Neither track is established as stronger than the other. Treat the fixed-property claim for Lost Rites as the fan guide’s description rather than confirmed game behavior.

Editions and platforms
Capcom sells the expansion in two forms. The standalone expansion is listed for Steam, and the combined package includes both the base game and the expansion. Capcom states that the expansion cannot be used without Dragon’s Dogma 2, so buyers who do not already own the base game need the combined package. The Capcom product listing covers these editions.

Capcom’s announcement says the release is planned for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Confirm regional platform listings and current availability before buying, because storefront details can differ by region.
