No. The Blood Ravens will not be the only Space Marines you command in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV. The Dark Angels are also playable as a Space Marine sub-faction, and the campaign includes missions with both Chapters. They are not a fifth core faction: the four core factions are Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and Adeptus Mechanicus.

How the Dark Angels fit into Dawn of War IV

The distinction is between a core faction and a sub-faction. Space Marines are one of the game’s four core factions; within the Space Marines campaign, players will command both the Blood Ravens and the Dark Angels in different missions. Deep Silver describes the Dark Angels as a playable sub-faction in its official game information.

A 30 September 2026 Warhammer Community update brought the Dark Angels into the faction trailer alongside Blood Ravens Captain Cyrus. The preview highlights a bike-mounted Chaplain and Deathwing Terminators. That confirms their presence and gives a glimpse of units, but it does not establish a complete roster or show how the Chapters compare in multiplayer balance.

Blood Ravens and Dark Angels in the campaign

The story returns to Kronus, where the conflict draws in the game’s four core factions. Blood Ravens Captain Cyrus and Chief Librarian Jonah Orion feature in the story; the Dark Angels’ named leaders include Company Master Astoran and Chaplain Ezrael. The campaign was co-written by Black Library author John French, according to Warhammer Community’s story-trailer coverage.

The broader conflict involves Adeptus Mechanicus seeking lost knowledge and artifacts, rival Ork Warbosses competing for power, and Necrons emerging to reclaim the world. Warhammer Community advertises more than 70 campaign missions playable solo or with a friend. That is the publisher’s announced mission count, not a measured estimate of campaign hours.

What is confirmed about release and play modes

The latest official announcement in the available material gives 3 December 2026 as the release date for Dawn of War IV. The official FAQ lists Steam for Windows PC, and says Commander Edition buyers get access three days earlier, on 30 November. Publisher materials also mention competitive multiplayer, Skirmish, and Last Stand, alongside the solo-or-co-op campaign.
