Yes. Daniil But scored Utah’s sixth goal at 12:50 of the third period, deflecting Michael Carcone’s shot to complete a 6-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks in the Mammoth’s 2026-27 season opener.
How did But score?
But redirected Carcone’s shot past Chicago’s goaltender at 12:50 of the third period. The NHL recap lists the goal as a deflection, with Carcone involved in the scoring play; it was not an unassisted goal. NHL.com’s recap describes Utah creating offense through traffic, rebounds and deflections.
How the goal fit the 6-0 result
The game was played at Delta Center on Thursday, October 1, 2026. But’s goal was Utah’s sixth and final score of the night. Dylan Guenther scored twice, including twice on the power play, while Carcone, Nick Schmaltz and Anders Lee also scored, according to the NHL game recap published October 2, 2026.
Karel Vejmelka stopped all 15 shots he faced. The recap called it the first home shutout in franchise history. Coach André Tourigny praised Vejmelka’s composure: “He was confident out there, he was solid,” Tourigny said. “When he had to come up big, he made the big save, and I liked his performance. No doubt about it.”
