Paramount is reportedly developing a Cyberpunk 2077 feature film, according to a trade report published October 8, 2026. TheWrap names Lorenzo di Bonaventura and CD PROJEKT RED as producers, but no cast, writer, director, plot, or release date has been announced in the sources reviewed. A separate live-action project with Anonymous Content was announced in 2023; it is not yet clear how that project relates to the Paramount report.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 getting a movie?
Yes, according to TheWrap’s October 8, 2026 report, Paramount is developing a feature-film adaptation of the game. This is a trade-press report; an official Paramount or CD PROJEKT RED announcement confirming the film was not located in the sources reviewed.
The report identifies Lorenzo di Bonaventura and CD PROJEKT RED as producers. It does not name a writer, director, cast, story, or release date. Keanu Reeves’ involvement is also unconfirmed, so there is no basis to say whether he will reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand.

How does the Paramount report relate to the Anonymous Content project?
CD PROJEKT RED announced a separate live-action collaboration with Anonymous Content on October 5, 2023. Its announcement described a brand-new story set in the game’s world and said the project had begun searching for a screenwriter, with the game’s creative team involved in development.
In an August 29, 2025 investor chat, CD PROJEKT VP for Investor Relations Karolina Gnaś said the Anonymous Content project was “still at a very early stage” and that such projects typically take a long time. The company’s investor-chat transcript does not provide a newer production milestone. The sources available do not explain whether the Anonymous Content project is separate from, connected to, or superseded by the Paramount film reported in 2026.

Is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners the same movie?
No. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a distinct animated series, not the newly reported feature film. CD PROJEKT RED announced it in 2020 as a standalone, ten-episode anime created with Studio Trigger and Netflix. Its announcement describes the series as set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
Why the adaptation is attracting attention
TheWrap reports that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide and its expansion, Phantom Liberty, more than 15 million. These are figures attributed to TheWrap’s October 2026 report, not figures independently confirmed here.

Those older company milestones are dated figures, not a replacement for the more recent totals reported by TheWrap.
