CyberGhost and NordVPN both offer mainstream VPN apps, but neither is the best choice for every reader. CyberGhost emphasizes servers organized for streaming, P2P, and gaming, and offers a 45-day refund window on eligible offers of six months or longer. NordVPN allows up to ten simultaneous devices and documents options such as Double VPN and Onion Over VPN. Your best fit depends on which features matter, the terms shown at checkout, and how either service performs from your location.
CyberGhost vs. NordVPN at a glance
| What matters | CyberGhost | NordVPN |
|---|---|---|
| Simultaneous devices | Seven, according to CyberGhost Support Center plan information checked in 2026. | Up to ten, according to NordVPN Support information checked in 2026. |
| Activity-oriented options | Provider lists servers optimized for streaming, P2P, and gaming. | Provider describes SmartPlay/streaming support; no equivalent gaming- or P2P-optimized server list is established here. |
| Specialty privacy features | Multiple protocols, including WireGuard; the cited plan information does not identify Double VPN or Onion Over VPN. | Double VPN routes traffic through two VPN servers; Onion Over VPN combines VPN encryption with Tor. |
| Refund terms | Provider states 14 days for one-month plans and 45 days for offers of six months or longer, subject to exclusions. | Specific refund terms are not stated in the cited NordVPN feature source. |
| Full-term cost | Longer-term offers use introductory pricing and renew at a standard rate; exact checkout terms vary. | Current full-term cost and renewal terms are not stated in the cited source. |
These are provider-stated product terms, not independent guarantees. Feature access can depend on platform, plan, and location. Confirm current details on the providers’ pages before subscribing.
Which one should you choose?
Choose CyberGhost if its server categories and refund period fit your needs
CyberGhost is the more directly documented fit if you want servers presented specifically for streaming, P2P, or gaming, or value the longer stated refund window on qualifying plans. Its listed limit of seven simultaneous connections may be enough for a smaller household, but count the devices you expect to use at once.
Choose NordVPN if you need more simultaneous connections or specialty routing
NordVPN’s stated ceiling of up to ten devices gives it the higher listed connection limit. Its Double VPN and Onion Over VPN options are useful distinctions for readers seeking those particular routing approaches. More layers or a Tor route can involve trade-offs in connection speed and convenience; they do not make a VPN a guarantee of anonymity.

Do not decide on a universal streaming, speed, or price winner
Streaming access and speed vary with your location, chosen server, network, device, and the streaming service’s own controls. Independent reviewers publish tests, but their findings describe specific test conditions rather than a result every subscriber should expect. Prices and promotions also change, and an introductory rate is not the same as the recurring cost.
Device limits and supported platforms
CyberGhost lists seven simultaneous device connections, while NordVPN Support says one subscription can be used on up to ten devices. A connection limit is about concurrent use, not necessarily how many devices can have the app installed. Check each provider’s current account rules if you plan to share a subscription or connect many devices.

CyberGhost lists apps for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Fire TV/Fire Stick, Android TV, and Linux. NordVPN lists apps for Windows, Linux, macOS, and iOS and Android, among other supported devices. The sources do not establish identical app features across platforms, so check the specific device and feature you need.
Privacy features and audit history
What the specialty features do
NordVPN describes Double VPN as sending traffic through two VPN servers. Onion Over VPN combines VPN encryption with Tor. These are distinct options rather than prerequisites for ordinary VPN use; whether either is available in the app and location you use can vary. CyberGhost’s cited plan information identifies multiple protocols, including WireGuard, but does not establish matching specialty routing features.

What an audit can and cannot establish
NordVPN’s published account of its no-logs review history says PwC Switzerland reviewed its practices in 2018 and 2020, followed by Deloitte reviews including 2023, 2024, and 2025. This is NordVPN’s description of audits at particular times. An independent review is evidence tied to its scope and date; it does not guarantee future conduct or prove that a VPN makes every user anonymous.
CyberGhost describes its service as routing internet traffic through an encrypted VPN tunnel. That can protect traffic between your device and the VPN endpoint under the connection’s applicable protections, but it is not a substitute for safe account practices or protection against every online threat.

Streaming, gaming, and performance
CyberGhost says it offers servers optimized for streaming, P2P, and gaming. NordVPN describes SmartPlay and streaming support. Those labels indicate provider-supported options, not a promise that a particular site or game will work reliably in every country or on every server.

Security.org’s comparison of the two services was last updated August 6, 2026, and reports its own performance testing. It also notes that results such as speed depend on factors including server location. TechRadar’s 2026 cheap-VPN review and Tom’s Guide’s 2026 NordVPN review report their own tests as well. Treat these as dated editorial snapshots: results are meaningful only alongside the outlet’s test setup, date, and metric, and they cannot predict your connection with certainty.

Refund periods, renewal prices, and what to check before paying
CyberGhost says one-month plans have a 14-day refund guarantee, while offers of six months or longer have a 45-day guarantee. The provider says these guarantees do not apply to purchases made through the Apple, Google Play, or Amazon app stores; those stores handle their own refund processes.
CyberGhost also says longer-term offers begin at an introductory rate and renew at a standard rate. The exact renewal terms appear at checkout. Compare the recurring charge and billing period—not only the headline introductory price—before purchase. Current prices and NordVPN’s comparable renewal terms are not established here, so check both checkout pages for the same plan duration and billing conditions.
Router use is optional
CyberGhost lists router support, and an independent comparison describes manual configuration on compatible routers. Router-level VPN setup can cover devices that do not have a convenient VPN app, but it depends on compatible hardware and correct configuration. A VPN-compatible router is optional: it is not required to use either provider’s regular apps. The cited sources do not establish a universally compatible router model.
