CyberDreams AI turns structured world-building content into short cyberpunk stories: Sanity stores the ingredients, a Next.js app selects one item from each of five categories, and Google Gemini generates the prose. The project is Vladimir Joseph’s small creative-coding experiment in treating a content management system as input for generative output rather than just a home for finished articles.
How CyberDreams AI generates a story
Joseph describes a simple pipeline: the application retrieves content from Sanity, randomly selects one record from each of five categories, then sends that set to Gemini to produce a short, mysterious cyberpunk story. The visitor starts the process with the “Generate CyberDream” action.
- Choose a character: a person who can anchor the story.
- Choose a location: the setting for the events.
- Choose a technology: a device, system, or other speculative element.
- Choose a threat: a source of danger or conflict.
- Choose an event: a situation that gives the story momentum.
- Generate prose: Gemini uses the selected ingredients to create a short story.
The design makes the distinction between stored content and generated content clear: Sanity holds reusable story components, while Gemini turns a selected combination into narrative text. Joseph frames the idea with the question, “What happens when structured CMS content becomes fuel for generative AI?” in his DEV Community project article.

The model organizes story material into characters, locations, technologies, threats, and events. The live demo displays two sample names under each category:
#1 Best Overall
| Category | Examples visible in the demo |
|---|---|
| Characters | Maya Chen; Alex Vega |
| Locations | Neo-Miami; The Neon Underground |
| Technologies | Neural Ghost Protocol; Quantum Firewall |
| Threats | Rogue AI; Neon Virus |
| Events | The Neon Blackout; The Quantum Awakening |
These are examples shown on the demo page, not evidence that the underlying Sanity dataset contains only two records per category—or that it contains a particular larger number. The demo also presents an AI-transmission area, a generated-story panel, and a display of the content model.
How the author describes the build
Joseph reports using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS for the application; Sanity for structured content; Google Gemini for story generation; and Vercel for deployment. His account describes building the content model, adding sample records, connecting the app to retrieve and randomly select entries, integrating Gemini, creating a neon control-panel interface, and deploying the result.

He also says the production Gemini API key was connected through environment variables. The project article identifies Sanity project ID ffi2ahke and dataset production; those are project identifiers, not credentials or proof that the public can access the project.

Joseph does not define the term or provide a measured comparison of development time or productivity. He also says there is no separate agent-session transcript.

The project article says the generated result differs each time. That describes the intended or author-reported behavior, not a tested guarantee that every click produces a fully distinct story. The write-up and demo do not report an output evaluation, reliability test, cost, latency, safety settings, or a systematic comparison of story quality.
The article also does not identify package versions, the Gemini model, or the exact prompt. As a result, it explains the concept and reported architecture, but does not provide enough detail to reproduce the same generation behavior precisely. The available evidence is Joseph’s self-published account and a mutable live demo, rather than an independent technical audit.
