Checkers and Rally’s are regional names for the same restaurant business, not two independent burger chains. Its fish menu offers a single Crispy Fish Sandwich and a larger, two-filet Deep Sea Double. Some customers quoted in a recent article praise the double as satisfying, but those comments are anecdotes—not proof of a broad customer consensus or an objective measure of quality.
Why the headline names two chains
Checkers and Rally’s operate under different names in different regions, according to Mashed’s October 3, 2026 article. The comparison is therefore between two sandwiches from one restaurant business, rather than fish sandwiches from two separate competitors.
How the two fish sandwiches compare
The Crispy Fish Sandwich has one crispy filet. The Deep Sea Double has two filets, American cheese, iceberg lettuce, and tartar sauce. The company’s September 2024 nutrition sheet identifies pollock for the single sandwich; Mashed attributes the use of 100% wild Alaskan pollock in both sandwiches to the company.

Nutrition figures are the company’s published values, not independent testing. The single’s figures and the double’s figures come from Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc.’s September 2024 nutrition and allergen sheet. The double supplies more listed protein and calories, along with substantially more sodium. Which portion suits you depends on your appetite and dietary needs; these numbers alone do not establish that either option is healthier.

What customers say—and what that establishes
Mashed recounts anonymous Reddit commenters describing the Deep Sea Double as hot, crispy, flavorful, and satisfying, with one saying they preferred it to Burger King or Arby’s. These are individual comments reproduced by a secondary source, not a representative survey or a controlled taste test. They support saying that some commenters liked the sandwich, but they do not demonstrate that customers generally agree or objectively establish “high quality.”
The two-filet format gives the double a larger fish portion than the single, which may help explain why some diners find it filling. How satisfying a meal feels varies from person to person.

The company’s September 2024 sheet flags the Crispy Fish Sandwich for egg, fish, soy, sesame, and wheat; the Deep Sea Double is also flagged for milk. The document warns that shared equipment and handling practices mean the restaurants cannot guarantee items are allergen-free. If an allergen could cause a serious reaction, review the current local information and use your judgment before ordering.
