Yes. Micron announced that it was exiting the Crucial consumer business, including consumer SSDs and RAM sold through retailers, e-tailers, and distributors worldwide. Micron said shipments through consumer channels would continue until the end of fiscal Q2 in February 2026. That was a shipment cutoff, not a date when every retailer’s remaining stock would disappear.

Micron also said it would continue Crucial product support and warranty service. That commitment does not guarantee a like-for-like replacement: reports after the exit describe individual claims where replacement stock was unavailable. Availability and remedies depend on the product, region, inventory, and circumstances of the claim.

What was discontinued—and when?

On December 3, 2025, Micron announced it would exit the Crucial consumer business worldwide. The decision covered consumer sales through retailers, e-tailers, and distributors. Micron said it would continue shipments through those channels until the end of fiscal Q2, identified as February 2026. Micron’s announcement did not set a universal retail sellout date, so any remaining stock is specific to the seller, market, and product.

The exit applies to Crucial as a consumer brand; it does not mean Micron stopped making or supplying all memory and storage. Micron said it would continue selling Micron-branded enterprise products to commercial customers. Later reporting also described memory and storage supply through OEM channels. TechRadar’s account reported an executive estimate that enterprise demand consumed 50% to 60% of overall memory supply; that is an attributed estimate, not a figure in Micron’s exit announcement.

Why did Micron leave the consumer market?

Micron attributed its decision to rising AI-driven data-center demand for memory and storage. The company said it wanted to improve supply and support for larger strategic customers in faster-growing segments. That is Micron’s stated rationale, not an independently established explanation of market-wide causation. Micron described Crucial’s consumer journey as lasting 29 years.

Do Crucial SSD and RAM warranties still apply?

Micron said it would continue warranty service and product support, and its support page continues to direct customers with Crucial product questions to a support route. The applicable warranty terms describe possible remedies that can include repair, replacement, in-store credit, or refund, subject to the product terms and jurisdiction.

Support remains available, but a particular remedy is not guaranteed. Windows Central reported a case involving an X10 Pro 4TB owner who was offered a refund of the original purchase price after replacement stock was unavailable. Tom’s Hardware separately reported an X9 4TB portable SSD case in which the customer was initially told replacement inventory was exhausted. These are individual reports, not a statement of how every claim will be handled. Windows Central’s report and Tom’s Hardware’s report illustrate why the remedy can depend on available stock and claim details.

What owners should do

  • Keep the proof of purchase, model and serial details, and any support correspondence.
  • Contact the support route for your region and ask what remedies are available for your specific product and claim.
  • Read the warranty terms that apply to the product and jurisdiction; do not assume a replacement or a particular refund amount.

Should you buy remaining Crucial stock?

It may still be listed by some sellers, but stock, price, return terms, and warranty handling vary. Before buying, check the seller’s return policy and clarify who handles warranty service. A listing does not establish that the unit is available, that the seller is authorized, or that a replacement will be available later.

If you are considering an alternative SSD or RAM kit, first identify what your system supports. For storage, check the interface and physical form factor; for memory, check the supported memory type and configuration. Then compare capacity and performance needs, warranty route, return policy, and current availability. No single substitute is compatible with every computer or device.
