Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly liked a SportTV Instagram post in which former Brazil international Felipe Melo criticized Portugal teammates for what he called their treatment of Ronaldo. The post followed Ronaldo’s departure from Portugal’s training camp in Copenhagen after he did not play against Norway. The reports describe a camp departure—not a confirmed retirement from international football.
What did Felipe Melo say about Cristiano Ronaldo?
Melo argued that Portugal players showed Ronaldo less respect than Argentina players showed Lionel Messi. CNN Brasil quoted him saying: “Eu vejo uma diferença grotesca no trato dos atletas com o Cristiano Ronaldo em relação aos atletas argentinos com o Messi. Eu vejo muito mais respeito dos adversários que jogam contra o Cristiano Ronaldo, a acho isso errado.” In English: “I see a huge difference in how athletes treat Cristiano Ronaldo compared with how Argentina’s athletes treat Messi. Melo also said: “Ninguém ali chega no tornozelo do Cristiano Ronaldo. Não dá. Não dá para deixar o maior da história sair do nada.” He was arguing that no one there came close to Ronaldo and that Portugal should not let “the greatest in history” leave without a response. These are Melo’s opinions, not independently established findings about the players’ relationships.

CNN Brasil, A Bola and SPORT TV reported that Ronaldo liked SportTV’s Instagram post reproducing Melo’s remarks. The like is the reported interaction. It does not, by itself, establish that Ronaldo endorsed every part of Melo’s argument or explain what Ronaldo was thinking.
Why did Ronaldo leave Portugal’s training camp?
Cadena SER reported that Ronaldo left the national team’s camp in Copenhagen after a press conference by coach Jorge Jesus and a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation. The dispute followed Ronaldo’s non-appearance against Norway, despite warming up. He said he would explain his reasons to the Portuguese people in due course and wished Portugal and his teammates good luck. His wording refers to leaving the training camp; it is not a formal announcement of international retirement.
