Seasons of Pywel, a PC mod by Khione95, makes Pywel cycle through spring, summer, autumn, and winter as the in-game calendar advances. The mod’s Nexus Mods listing says the changes happen while playing, without reloading. It is separate from Pearl Abyss’s official Charting the Unknown DLC, which the studio currently lists for October 29, 2026 (GMT/PT).
What Seasons of Pywel changes in Crimson Desert
Khione95’s Nexus Mods description says the mod follows the in-game calendar and changes the world live: “Pywel gets four seasons. They follow the in-game calendar and change live while you play: no reloads, no picking mods, no game files changed on disk.” This is the mod author’s description, not an independently verified performance or compatibility test. Season order and timing
The mod begins its yearly cycle in summer, then moves through autumn, winter, spring, and back to summer. Its default is 30 in-game days per season, with configurable alternatives. The listing also describes a choice between following the in-game calendar and using a fixed season. When a season changes, nearby scenery updates within seconds; distant foliage may catch up as it loads or after travel.

- Spring: fresh green leaves and grass.
- Summer: the starting season in the listed cycle.
- Autumn: trees, bushes, grass, and terrain shift toward golden, orange, and brown tones.
- Winter: snow, frost, and snowfall appear, while the Crimson Desert’s ground remains bare and warm.
Weather is season-sensitive in the author’s configuration: snow is more common in winter, rain more common in autumn, some rain occurs in spring, and summer can bring occasional rain. Deep snow builds up during snowfall and melts over time, affecting movement and temperature. The listing says deep snow can be disabled from the Control Menu while keeping winter’s snow cover, snowfall, and cold.

Temperature and equipment
Seasons of Pywel also adjusts the game’s temperature system, so warmth and clothing can matter beyond appearance; fires still warm the player, according to the listing. Version 1.0.2’s changelog says the author adjusted winter cold to prevent some chilly areas from becoming deadly cold. Treat these details as the mod’s stated mechanics and patch notes rather than independently tested findings.
How to install Seasons of Pywel on PC
The author lists two installation routes. These are PC modding instructions, not an official console feature. The mod page says it does not change game files on disk, but installation itself has not been independently tested here.
Install with DMM
- Download the mod archive from its Nexus Mods page.
- Drop the archive onto DMM (the mod manager specified by the author).
- Enable Seasons in DMM’s ASI tab.
Install manually with an ASI loader
- Install an ASI loader for the game.
- Copy the mod’s ASI file and data folder into Crimson Desert’s
bin64directory.
Check the mod listing before installing for the latest files and directions, especially after a game update.

Settings and compatibility to consider

When does Charting the Unknown release?
Pearl Abyss’s official notice, dated September 30, 2026, gives Charting the Unknown a release date of October 29, 2026 (GMT/PT). That date supersedes the earlier October 15 date mentioned in Wccftech’s October 2 coverage. Pearl Abyss said it needed additional development time to refine the content and deliver a more polished and stable experience. The official French notice says, “Rendez-vous à Pywel le 29 octobre (GMT/PT) !” (“See you in Pywel on October 29 (GMT/PT)!”). Read Pearl Abyss’s September 30 release notice.

Pearl Abyss describes ocean exploration, islands, diving for underwater treasures and ruins, new threats, new stories for Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane, facility rental and management, and upgraded housing. The official description says the DLC will not be available on the Mac App Store at launch; Pearl Abyss says it will announce separately if a Mac release comes later. Seasons of Pywel is a community-made mod, not an announced feature of Charting the Unknown. The mod changes the game’s seasonal presentation and related weather and temperature behavior; the DLC’s listed features are a separate official release.
