Creality announced worldwide availability of the Sermoon P1S on September 22, 2026, describing it as a professional handheld blue-laser 3D scanner that can capture and process scans without a separate computer. Creality specifies up to 0.02 mm accuracy for blue-laser scanning, but says that figure comes from laboratory testing; it is not an independently verified guarantee for every scan or scanning mode.

What the Sermoon P1S does

The Sermoon P1S is a handheld scanner intended to digitize physical objects for uses Creality identifies including reverse engineering, automotive work, field digitization, and scan-to-model workflows. It combines blue-laser and near-infrared (NIR) structured-light scanning with onboard computing, local storage, and a 6-inch touchscreen. Creality’s September 22, 2026 launch announcement describes the product and its specifications.

Does the Sermoon P1S work without a PC?

Yes. In standalone mode, Creality says the P1S can capture an object, display scan coverage on its touchscreen, and handle common processing tasks using its onboard computing and storage. That means a separate computer is not required for those listed steps. It does not mean the scanner is limited to PC-free use: Creality also lists wired-PC and wireless-PC modes for workflows that use a desktop computer. This describes the manufacturer’s stated workflow, not an independent test of the device.

The launch announcement also lists Wi-Fi 7 and USB 3.0 connectivity, a weight of 807 g including the battery, and two replaceable 3,300 mAh batteries.

  • Pro-Level Hardware & Performance- With a 16GB RAM, 256GB storage, WiFi 7, and a high-speed Qualcomm processor, the Sermoon P1S handles complex scans smoothly. It supports multiple laser line patterns (single, parallel, cross) for different scenarios, ensuring optimal detail and speed.

Which scanning modes does it offer?

Creality lists four modes, aimed at different surfaces and object geometries:

  • 34 cross blue-laser lines: intended for scanning larger surfaces.
  • Seven parallel blue-laser lines: intended to capture finer surface features.
  • One blue-laser line: intended for recessed geometry such as holes and grooves.
  • NIR structured light: intended for capturing contours and detail on small-to-medium objects.

Those are Creality’s stated use cases for the modes; the launch announcement does not establish that one mode is best for every object of a given size.

How accurate is the Sermoon P1S?

For blue-laser scanning, Creality advertises “up to 0.02 mm accuracy” and volumetric accuracy of “0.02 mm + 0.08 mm/m.” These are distinct specifications: the first is the stated accuracy figure, while the second expresses how volumetric accuracy includes a distance-based term. Creality says both figures are based on laboratory testing and that vibration, temperature, operating conditions, and other environmental factors can affect actual results. They should therefore be read as manufacturer-stated lab figures, not as independently confirmed performance in every environment.

The 0.02 mm claim is specifically attached to blue-laser scanning in the announcement. Creality does not state that same accuracy figure for NIR mode there, so it should not be applied to all four modes. No independent hands-on P1S accuracy result is established by the available launch information.

Do not confuse the P1S with the Sermoon P1

The Sermoon P1S is not the earlier Sermoon P1, and their specifications differ. Creality’s P1S launch announcement specifies 34 cross blue-laser lines and volumetric accuracy of 0.02 mm + 0.08 mm/m. The separate official Sermoon P1 page lists 22 cross lines and 0.02 mm + 0.06 mm/m volumetric accuracy. The P1 page also lists 24 GB of RAM and a weight of 830 g; those are P1 figures, not P1S specifications.

What to check before choosing it

The launch specifications help explain the P1S’s modes and PC-free workflow, but they do not establish how it compares with other scanners in real-world use. For a meaningful comparison, check whether published figures measure the same kind of accuracy, and compare the mode suited to your object, capture rates in the same operating mode, supported scan volume and working distance, ambient-light limits, calibration and marker requirements, software and export formats, battery portability, and regional price. Do not treat a maximum frame rate or a lab accuracy figure as a substitute for comparable testing on the objects and conditions that matter to your work.
