Possibly, but it is only a theory based on leaked renders. A wider, horizontal camera island might help the Galaxy S27 Ultra sit more steadily than separate camera rings, but Samsung has not confirmed the design and no one has published a wobble test.
What is reportedly changing?
A larger horizontal camera island
In an October 2, 2026 report, SamMobile described leaked renders showing a new, enlarged horizontal camera island in place of separate-looking camera rings. The publication suggested the wider shape could support more of the phone’s upper back on a desk; that is an interpretation of the renders, not a confirmed Samsung feature.
Case leaks offer clues, not a final layout
Gizmochina’s September 28, 2026 case report also points to a larger, raised horizontal camera area. Its account describes two cameras stacked vertically and a third in an elongated or oval section beside them. The case openings reportedly show space for a telephoto camera and LED flash, while the laser-autofocus cutout remains uncertain.
Why might the shape reduce wobble?
On a flat surface, a phone rocks when its contact points are uneven or too limited to keep it steady as you tap the screen. A broad, level camera platform could potentially spread contact across more of the upper back than individual raised rings do. Whether it actually helps would depend on the island’s height, shape, rigidity, and how it meets the desk—details the renders do not establish.

SamMobile also cautioned that the island could be a cosmetic plastic rectangle rather than a structural part. If so, its appearance alone would not prove that it provides a stable support surface. There are no published measurements comparing the rumored design with the current phone, and no hands-on wobble test.

Taken together, the reports suggest a redesigned housing but do not establish its final shape or internal layout. As SamMobile put it, nothing is final until Samsung announces it.

Will a Galaxy S27 Ultra case fit the new housing?
Not on the evidence available so far. Leaked cases are clues to the camera area, not proof of the final dimensions or cutouts. Samsung has not announced the phone or its specifications, so a case described as a Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra case cannot yet be treated as confirmed to fit.
