If the new Corsair keyboard you mean is the GALLEON 100 SD—the strongest match for this headline—it is expensive because it combines a full-size mechanical keyboard with an integrated Stream Deck control surface. TechRadar lists it at $349.99 / £309.99 / AU$599, although those are review-listed prices rather than a live checkout quote. The premium is difficult to justify if you only need a keyboard or already own a Stream Deck; it makes more sense for someone who will regularly use the built-in controls and wants one desk device instead of two.
What the Corsair GALLEON 100 SD actually is
Corsair announced the GALLEON 100 SD on January 6, 2026, describing it as a full-size mechanical gaming keyboard with Stream Deck integration. This is not simply a conventional keyboard with a few macro buttons. The integrated control area is designed to run commands, change profiles and show information while you play, stream or work.
According to Corsair, the control surface contains:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- 12 LCD keys for configurable actions and profile controls
- Two dials with push functions for adjustment and additional commands
- A 5-inch full-color display for information and visual controls
Corsair vice president and general manager of gaming peripherals Tobias Brinkmann called it “a new era of input that our community has been clamoring for.” That is promotional language, not an independent value judgment, so the practical question is whether you will use the added controls often enough to offset the price.

Why the price is hard to justify for a normal keyboard buyer
You are paying for a control deck as well as keys
Most mechanical keyboards compete on switches, layout, latency, build quality and software. The GALLEON 100 SD adds a Stream Deck-style interface, which is the main reason TechRadar says to consider it. If your use is primarily typing and ordinary game controls, the LCD keys, dials and screen may spend much of their time unused.

- Full-Size Premium Wired Keyboard: The ROG Strix Scope II X is a 100% keyboard with a number pad and wired USB-C connectivity. The aluminum top plate and PBT doubleshot keycaps give it a weighty, durable presence while keeping each key resistant to wear
- Hot Swappable, Pre-Lubed Mechanical Switches V2: Create your own custom aesthetics and typing experience with your choice of ROG NX Snow linear switches (for smooth, thocky keystrokes) or ROG NX Storm clicky switches (for crisp, tactile keystrokes)
- ROG NX V2 Switches: These switches retain the dust-proof, wall-stem design of the original V1 switches while adding an LED lens for enhanced RGB illumination
- Enhanced Acoustics: Integrated sound-dampening foam and switch-dampening pads effectively absorb pinging noises and echoes, resulting in improved keystroke acoustics
- Optimized for Gaming, Streaming, and Daily Work: Pre-programmed hotkeys (F1-F5) for control over Xbox Game Bar and recording functions. A multi-function wheel allows for intuitive media and lighting adjustments. All keys are fully macro-programmable
The control surface changes the full-size layout
TechRadar reports that the Stream Deck section occupies the usual numpad area. A profile swap can provide numpad functionality, but that is not the same as having a permanently available physical numpad. Buyers who enter numbers frequently should treat this as a layout decision, not merely an extra feature.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteExisting Stream Deck owners get less incremental value
If you already own a Stream Deck, the GALLEON duplicates much of its control purpose while still charging for the combined design. TechRadar finds the premium harder to justify for those users. The integrated format may save desk space, but it does not automatically save money.

- Full-Key Programmable On-board Keyboard: This macro keyboard supports macro recording and free assignment to any key. You can configure shortcuts, macros, and multi-step operation flows via the web-based interface or the latest VSD Craf software (reset your device after reinstallation or update). Record and edit macros to boost work efficiency and speed up gameplay
- Stream Controller Deck Function (via VSD Craf Software): Create unlimited switchable pages, with each page containing 6 LCD keys & 3 knobs. This offers unparalleled flexibility, allowing you to assign individual or series of actions to streamline your workflow. Whether executing game combos, launching apps, or controlling media, the possibilities are endless. You can even personalize each LCD key with images and animations (JPG, PNG, GIF) for easier recognition and memorization
- Smart Display Screen & Multi-function Knob: The VSD K1 Pro wired gaming streaming keyboard features a built-in intelligent TFT color display, serving as an interactive interface for real-time updates and customization. The high-definition LCD display and multi-function knobs make it simple to switch and customize GIFs, volume, date and time, backlighting, and connection modes for improved usability. Note: Screen images/GIFs and date/time calibration require software installation under Windows/macOS and a wired connection
- Hot-Swappable Custom Keyboard: The VSD K1 Pro wired macro shortcut keyboard is equipped with a hot-swappable PCB compatible with 3-pin or 5-pin switches. No soldering is required, letting you easily replace switches and keycaps for a fully personalized typing experience (keycap/switch puller included). Pre-lubed stabilizers and switches deliver a smooth, creamy typing feel and satisfying mechanical sound, ensuring fast response for intense gaming
- Gasket Mount & Advanced 5-Layer Dampening Structure: This macro pad keyboard uses an advanced structure with extended integrated silicone pads and PCB single-key slotting to optimize resilience and stability for a softer, more elastic feel. The 5-layer sound-dampening fills gaps between the PCB, plate, and switches, effectively reducing cavity noise and delivering a pure, clean sound with every keystroke
What you get for the premium
Corsair lists the following keyboard-side features:
- Up to 8,000Hz polling
- FlashTap SOCD handling
- Pre-lubed MLX Pulse switches
- An aluminum frame
- Gasket mounting
- Six layers of sound dampening
These are manufacturer specifications. They describe the design and claimed capabilities, not independently verified improvements in latency, sound or competitive performance. An 8,000Hz polling claim, for example, does not by itself guarantee a perceptible advantage in every game or on every computer.

- Multi-Function at Your Fingertips: Take command over backlighting, media jogging, and more with a versatile iCUE control wheel, fully programmable to perform actions in games and applications.
Software setup is part of the ownership cost
TechRadar reports using CORSAIR Web Hub for keyboard-side settings and the desktop Stream Deck app for configuring the integrated controls. If you also use older Corsair hardware, iCUE may be added to the software mix. The exact number of applications depends on your existing product set, but this is not a one-setting, one-app purchase for every owner.
- Use CORSAIR Web Hub to configure the keyboard’s own settings.
- Use the desktop Stream Deck application to assign actions, profiles and display behavior to the LCD keys, dials and screen.
- Add iCUE only if your other Corsair devices require it.
That separation is manageable for enthusiasts who already maintain peripheral software, but it is a disadvantage if your priority is a simple plug-in keyboard.

Who should consider buying it?
It is a reasonable fit when
- You stream, record, moderate communities or run applications that benefit from many one-press commands.
- You want a built-in control surface and do not already own a Stream Deck.
- You prefer a full-size keyboard footprint and can live without a permanently exposed numpad.
- You value one integrated device more than the lowest total price.
It is a poor fit when
- You mainly want excellent switches and gaming performance from a keyboard.
- You already own a working Stream Deck.
- You need a conventional numpad available at all times.
- You dislike configuring keyboard software and Stream Deck controls separately.
How it compares with Corsair’s CLIPPER PRO MINI 60
Corsair’s June 2, 2026 Computex announcement introduced the separate CLIPPER PRO MINI 60. It is a compact 60% Hall Effect gaming keyboard, not a substitute for the GALLEON’s integrated Stream Deck. Corsair specifies Rapid Trigger, FlashTap SOCD, adjustable actuation from 0.2mm to 3.8mm and switches rated for 100 million keystrokes.
| Feature | GALLEON 100 SD | CLIPPER PRO MINI 60 |
|---|---|---|
| Layout | Full-size design with Stream Deck area replacing the numpad zone | Compact 60% |
| Integrated controls | 12 LCD keys, two push dials and a 5-inch screen | Not stated in the announcement |
| Switch technology | Pre-lubed MLX Pulse switches | Hall Effect switches |
| Adjustable actuation | Not stated in the cited announcement | 0.2mm–3.8mm |
| Switch durability | Not stated in the cited announcement | 100 million keystrokes |
Do not transfer the CLIPPER PRO MINI 60’s actuation range or durability rating to the GALLEON 100 SD; they are specifications for the other model.
Verdict: expensive, but not automatically overpriced
The GALLEON 100 SD is best understood as a keyboard-plus-control-surface purchase. At TechRadar’s listed $349.99 / £309.99 / AU$599, its value depends on whether the integrated Stream Deck replaces a device you would otherwise buy and whether you will use its controls every day. For a buyer seeking only a premium mechanical keyboard, the price is excessive. For a streamer or power user who wants a single full-size device with programmable screens, dials and keys, the premium has a clear purpose—but it remains a specialized convenience rather than a universal upgrade.
