The Corsair K70 PRO TKL is a wired tenkeyless gaming keyboard with adjustable magnetic switches, Rapid Trigger, and an advertised report rate of up to 8,000Hz. Its gaming controls and included wrist rest are appealing, but the Hall effect switches are not fitted to every key, and independent reviewers have flagged typing-feel issues. It is best suited to players who want configurable actuation and do not need wireless connectivity.
What makes the K70 PRO TKL different?
The central feature is its MGX Hyperdrive Hall effect switches. On keys equipped with them, the actuation point can be configured, and Rapid Trigger can change a key’s reset behavior so it can register another press without waiting for a fixed reset point. That level of control can be useful in games where quick repeated inputs matter.
There is an important qualification: RTINGS reports that 23 keys use conventional mechanical switches rather than adjustable Hall effect switches. So the K70 PRO TKL is not a board where every key offers magnetic-switch adjustment. Check the key layout and the functions you intend to customize before buying.
Is the Corsair K70 PRO TKL good for gaming?
RTINGS rates it excellent for gaming, pointing to its build, latency performance, and customization. RTINGS also reports an effective update rate of up to 8,000Hz. CORSAIR specifies a report rate of up to 8,000Hz; these are manufacturer and reviewer claims, not measurements made for this article.
#1 Best Overall
- Speed is Everything: It’s all about speed. With Rapid Trigger, ultra-fast polling rates, and per-key adjustable switches, K70 PRO TKL removes every barrier that comes between you and gaming greatness
- Space-Saving Tenkeyless Layout: The sleek, streamlined tenkeyless layout fits in nearly every gaming setup, while leaving room for sweeping mouse movements
- MGX Hyperdrive Magnetic Switches*: Pre-lubricated CORSAIR MGX Hyperdrive magnetic switches deliver a smooth, ultra-responsive keypress. Its sturdy double-rail structure reduces wobble and guarantees peak performance for 150 million keystrokes. *Function keys and non-primary keys feature CORSAIR MLX switches
- Rapid Trigger Advantage: Rapid Trigger dynamically changes your keys’ actuation and reset points, so you can move and reset your movements faster than ever
- Customizable Per-Key Actuation: Adjust the actuation point of each key from a super-sensitive 0.4mm to a deep 3.6mm (in 0.1mm steps) or set two actions to a single keypress with dual actuation for quick-fire combos and action pairs
RTINGS says Rapid Trigger and secondary actuation points may help with actions such as counter-strafing in first-person shooters. Those features are most relevant to players who will configure and use them. If you mainly play casually or prefer a straightforward keyboard, they may not justify choosing this model over a less specialized option.
How does it feel to type on, and how is it built?
CORSAIR describes the keyboard as having a double-rail switch structure, pre-lubed switches, two sound-dampening layers, and an aluminum top plate. It also claims an “unbeatable typing sound and feel” on its product page; that is marketing language, not an independent consensus.

- Space-Saving Tenkeyless Layout: The compact tenkeyless footprint fits in tight gaming setups and leaves more room for sweeping mouse movements
- Pre-Lubed MLX Red v2 Switches: Pre-lubricated CORSAIR MLX Red v2 linear mechanical switches deliver smooth, responsive, and stable keystrokes, with enhanced ultra-bright per-key RGB backlighting
- Fast Wireless Connectivity: Connect via ultra-fast SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS v1.5 or versatile Bluetooth, secured by AES encryption
- Ultra-Satisfying Typing Acoustics: Two sound dampening layers made from premium foam material, plus pre-lubricated stabilizers, temper unwanted pings and clacks for pleasantly subdued typing
- Game Mode Activated: Press the game mode button and switch to competition-optimised settings, reducing input lag and eliminating distractions
RTINGS finds the build quality good but notes minor key wobble and stabilizer rattle, especially on Backspace. GamesRadar+ describes the older MGX switches as particularly tough going and says the newer CORSAIR Vanguard offers a better overall experience. That is GamesRadar+’s comparative assessment, not a universal ranking, but it underscores why switch feel is worth weighing alongside the feature list.
What controls and everyday-use features are included?
- Rotary dial and media controls: provide physical controls beyond the main key cluster.
- Detachable cable: makes the wired connection removable, but does not make the keyboard wireless.
- Detachable wrist rest: CORSAIR lists a magnetic attachment, memory foam, and leatherette covering.
- Onboard storage: CORSAIR lists 8MB of onboard memory and five onboard profiles.
- TKL layout: removes the number pad to leave a more compact footprint, but also means there is no dedicated numeric keypad.
RTINGS says the K70 PRO TKL is wired-only and unsuitable for mobile or tablet use. It also notes there are no dedicated macro keys. RTINGS considers it alright for office work and decent for programming, while pointing to wobble and rattle as drawbacks for those uses.

How does it compare with alternatives?
| Keyboard | What the cited comparison says | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Corsair K70 PRO TKL | RTINGS highlights its rotary knob and included wrist rest. | Choose it if those extras and its adjustable Hall effect keys suit your setup; remember that 23 keys are conventional mechanical switches, according to RTINGS. |
| Wooting 80HE | RTINGS says it has better overall performance and a more premium feel than the K70 PRO TKL. | Compare the feel and performance you want against the Corsair’s rotary dial and wrist rest. |
| Corsair K70 RGB TKL | RTINGS identifies it as a related but distinct model with conventional mechanical or optical switches rather than the K70 PRO TKL’s Hall effect switches. | Do not assume the PRO TKL’s adjustable magnetic-switch features apply to this model. |
| Corsair Vanguard | GamesRadar+ says the newer Vanguard provides a better overall experience than the K70 PRO TKL. | Treat this as GamesRadar+’s current comparative judgment; preference and requirements may differ. |
Before choosing between magnetic-switch keyboards, compare the feel of the switches, which keys support adjustable actuation and reset, latency, wired or wireless operation, layout, software, physical controls, included comfort features, and the price available in your region. The evidence cited here does not establish a like-for-like price comparison among these models.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you buy the K70 PRO TKL?
Consider it if you want a wired TKL keyboard with configurable Hall effect keys, Rapid Trigger, a high specified report rate, and useful physical extras such as the dial and wrist rest. Look elsewhere if you require wireless use, a full magnetic layout, dedicated macro keys, or a typing feel that you have confirmed suits you. Check the exact regional SKU before purchase: CORSAIR’s US listing showed color and keycap variants, and that listing’s price can change.
