The COROS APEX 2 is a compact outdoor GPS watch with a sapphire display, titanium bezel, offline maps, and manufacturer-estimated battery life of up to 40 hours in standard full-GPS mode. It suits trail and mountain athletes who value a smaller watch; the APEX 2 Pro is the stronger fit if you want dual-frequency satellite communication, a larger display, more storage, or longer GPS runtime. Neither model provides turn-by-turn directions for a GPX route trace.

What the COROS APEX 2 offers

COROS positions the APEX 2 as a GPS watch for trail running and mountain sports. Its core design combines a 1.2-inch display, sapphire glass, and a grade 5 titanium alloy bezel. The watch is rated 5 ATM for water resistance, and COROS advertises free global offline landscape and topographical maps. See the COROS APEX 2 product page for its official feature list.

The APEX 2 supports all five major satellite systems simultaneously, but it does not have dual-frequency satellite communication. That feature belongs to the APEX 2 Pro. This distinction matters if you are choosing between the two: support for multiple satellite systems is not the same as dual-frequency GNSS.

APEX 2 vs. APEX 2 Pro: the practical differences

COROS’s comparison describes the Pro as the larger, longer-running option with dual-frequency satellite communication and more onboard storage. The APEX 2 is smaller and has a narrower band. These are the manufacturer-published specifications in COROS’s APEX 2 vs. APEX 2 Pro comparison.

Choose the APEX 2 if size and fit come first

The smaller display and 20 mm band make the APEX 2 the more compact choice. It still includes offline maps and simultaneous access to five major satellite systems. If the Pro’s extra satellite mode, storage, and screen size do not address a specific need, the APEX 2 may be the more sensible fit.

Choose the APEX 2 Pro if its added capabilities matter

The Pro adds dual-frequency satellite communication, a larger and higher-resolution display, four times the listed storage, and a longer current standard full-GPS estimate. It is not automatically better for every wrist or use case: account for its larger size and 22 mm band as well as those upgrades.

How long does the APEX 2 battery last?

COROS currently estimates 40 hours of standard full-GPS use and 13 days of regular use for the APEX 2. These are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed results in every setup or activity. The COROS battery specifications page lists 66 hours of standard full-GPS use for the APEX 2 Pro.

Older APEX 2 materials cited a 45-hour full-GPS estimate. COROS says its February 2024 heart-rate algorithm and GPS firmware changes affected battery estimates; it also changed the daily-use estimate to include sleep tracking. Its current table lists 40 hours for the APEX 2. Do not compare these figures with other satellite modes as if they were the same setting: full GPS, “All Systems On,” and dual-frequency modes can have different runtimes.

Maps and route guidance: useful, but not turn-by-turn

COROS advertises free global offline landscape and topographical maps for the series. A map and a route trace can help with outdoor navigation, but they should not be mistaken for turn-by-turn directions. In its 2026 cycling-watch coverage, Cycling Weekly says the APEX 2 Pro can follow a GPX trace but does not provide turn-by-turn directions. That review comment is about the Pro; it does not establish a broader navigation feature set for every APEX 2 scenario.

What reviewers say about accuracy and everyday use

Independent commentary is mixed, and the reviews describe different models and testing contexts rather than a single definitive accuracy result. In the APEX 2 Pro entry in Cycling Weekly’s 2026 cycling-watch roundup, Senior Magazine Editor David Bradford says the five-LED wrist heart-rate readings were accurate against a chest strap in his test. The roundup also praises the Pro’s battery, customization, and wrist heart-rate monitoring.

By contrast, Android Central’s later APEX 4 article looks back on its reviewer’s 2022 APEX 2 and APEX 2 Pro reviews. Michael Hicks recalls being impressed by hardware and battery life while raising concerns about GPS and heart-rate accuracy, gaps in health tracking and software, and dim MIP displays. That is a retrospective account of earlier reviews, not a fresh 2026 test of the APEX 2.

As a result, the available review evidence does not justify promising that every wearer will get consistently accurate GPS or wrist heart-rate results. If those readings are critical to your training, weigh the specific activity, fit, and your tolerance for checking data against another device; the cited reports do not settle performance across all conditions.

Is the COROS APEX 2 worth buying?

The APEX 2 is worth considering if you want a smaller outdoor GPS watch with sapphire glass, a titanium bezel, offline maps, and substantial manufacturer-estimated GPS runtime. The Pro is the more capable model on paper if dual-frequency communication, its larger screen, extra storage, or longer standard full-GPS estimate would make a practical difference to you.

COROS’s catalog, accessed October 4, 2026, listed the APEX 2/2 Pro at $279 and also featured newer APEX 4 watches beginning at $429. Catalog prices and availability can change; that listing does not confirm stock for a particular retailer or configuration. Check the current COROS catalog before making a purchase.
