The Cooler Master V8 ACE 3DHP is a tall single-tower air cooler with an unusual six-heatpipe design and two thick 120 mm fans. Independent testing shows it can handle high CPU loads, but its full-speed noise is substantial and its 167.3 mm height rules out some cases. Whether it is a good buy depends on choosing the correct AMD or Intel version, confirming case clearance, and comparing local pricing with alternatives.
What the V8 ACE 3DHP is—and what is distinctive about it
The V8 ACE 3DHP is a single-tower air cooler, not a conventional dual-tower cooler. Its heat-transfer system combines two 3DHP heatpipes with four conventional SCCHP heatpipes. A 120 × 120 × 30 mm fan sits on each side of the fin stack in a push-pull arrangement. The front fan is rated for up to 2500 ±250 RPM and the rear fan for up to 2050 ±250 RPM. Cooler Master lists no lighting and a six-year warranty.
Cooler Master says its patented 3DHP design adds a third branch aimed at the CPU hotspot, providing another route for heat to reach the cooler. That is the manufacturer’s explanation of the design; it is not an independently measured account of how heat moves through the assembly. The practical question is how the cooler performs under comparable test conditions.
How well does it cool?
PC Gamer tested the V8 Ace 3DHP Black in Prime95 at 1.325 V, with results normalized to a 20 °C ambient reference and a load of approximately 230 W. It recorded a 76 °C maximum and 71 °C average. In that same test, the Noctua NH-D15 G2 recorded 73 °C maximum and 66 °C average, while the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE recorded 80 °C maximum and 71 °C average. These figures are useful as a controlled comparison, not as temperatures to expect from every processor, case, or fan curve.
#1 Best Overall
- 3DHP Technology - 2 x 3DHP + 4 x heat pipes rapidly dissipate heat from high-TDP CPUs to help reduce thermal throttling.
- AMD Contact Plate - Dedicated AMD metal bracket and different contact plate support AM5/AM4 for optimized thermal contact.
- Dual 120mm PWM Fans - Front fan delivers 89.6 CFM / 3.85 mmH2O; rear fan delivers 61.0 CFM / 2.0 mmH2O.
- LCP Stable Blades - Liquid Crystal Polymer blades reduce flex at high speed for steady cooling under heavy workloads.
- Easy Installation - Tool-free sliding fans glide out for memory access and easier installation without metal brackets.
| Cooler | Maximum temperature | Average temperature |
|---|---|---|
| Cooler Master V8 Ace 3DHP Black | 76 °C | 71 °C |
| Noctua NH-D15 G2 | 73 °C | 66 °C |
| Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE | 80 °C | 71 °C |
All three results are from PC Gamer’s Prime95 test at 1.325 V, normalized to a 20 °C ambient reference at approximately 230 W. Different CPUs, cases, ambient temperatures, and fan settings can change the outcome.
Separately, Tom’s Hardware reported that its V8 Ace 3DHP test with a Ryzen 9 9950X3D handled over 249 W at full fan speed and over 245 W in a noise-normalized test. Those are results from that review’s test setup, not a universal supported CPU power rating. Cooler Master’s product page also reports that the cooler ranked first among single-tower AMD air coolers and second among air coolers overall in a Cybenetics dataset; that ranking is the manufacturer’s report and applies to the dataset tested, not every cooler or test scenario.

- Intel Contact Plate - Dedicated Intel contact plate differs from the AMD version for platform-specific CPU contact.
- Dual 120mm PWM Fans - Front fan delivers 89.6 CFM / 3.85 mmH2O; rear fan delivers 61.0 CFM / 2.0 mmH2O.

How loud is it?
PC Gamer measured 48 dBA at 40 cm with the V8 Ace running at 100% fan speed; its test had a 35 dBA noise floor. That is a full-speed, test-specific measurement, not a prediction for every system. A tuned fan curve may reduce noise, but can also change cooling performance. If low noise is a priority, compare results taken at a stated distance and fan setting rather than relying on general descriptions such as “quiet.”
Which version fits your CPU?
Cooler Master sells distinct AMD and Intel versions, with different base geometry and platform-tuned heatpipe designs. Match the version and exact SKU to the processor socket rather than assuming the two variants are interchangeable.

| Version | Sockets listed by Cooler Master | Base shape |
|---|---|---|
| AMD | AM4, AM5 | Flat |
| Intel | LGA1851, LGA1700, LGA1200, LGA1151, LGA1150, LGA1155, LGA1156 | Convex |
The Cooler Master EU AMD store listing says its AMD-version box includes LGA1700 and LGA1851 brackets, while the Intel version includes an AM4/AM5 bracket. Packaging can vary by region and SKU, so check the exact product listing or confirm with the seller before relying on those extra brackets for another platform.
Will it fit in your case?
The listed dimensions are 138.95 × 136.47 × 167.3 mm. The 167.3 mm height is the key clearance check: compare it with your case’s maximum CPU-cooler height before buying. Also account for the cooler’s width and depth around nearby components. If the case specification leaves little margin, confirm fit against the case maker’s clearance guidance rather than assuming the nominal limit guarantees easy installation.

What does it cost, and is it worth buying?
Tom’s Hardware lists a $119.99 MSRP in its 2026 review. The Cooler Master EU store listing for the black AMD model showed €109.90 including VAT and “Out of stock” when accessed on October 4, 2026. Those are separate regional snapshots, not a live offer or a direct currency comparison; check current local price and availability.
The test results make the V8 ACE 3DHP a credible high-load air-cooling option, but they do not make it an automatic value choice. Compare the price with alternatives such as the Noctua NH-D15 G2 and Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE, using performance measured at similar CPU power and ambient conditions. Consider the V8 when its design, appearance, or fit for your platform suits your build and you have the case clearance; reconsider if low full-speed noise or a lower-priced option matters more.
