The Cooler Master HAF II 500 is a spacious, airflow-focused ATX mid-tower built around two 220 mm front intake fans and a 180 mm rear exhaust. Its generous listed clearances and adjustable MasterRail mounting system give builders several cooling layouts to consider, but available coverage has not established how cool or quiet a complete PC runs in controlled testing. Treat its performance claims as design intent until independent measurements are available.
What the HAF II 500 is—and how large it is
Cooler Master lists the HAF II 500 at 557 × 262 × 548 mm, including protrusions, and 79.98 L. It has eight expansion slots and supports Mini-ITX, Mini-DTX, Micro-ATX, ATX, CEB, and E-ATX motherboards up to 310 mm wide. CEB and E-ATX boards must use an ATX-compatible standoff pattern. Cooler Master’s specifications are the source for these dimensions and compatibility details.
That footprint is worth checking against your desk and room before choosing the case. Its broad chassis provides space for large components, but the listed clearances still depend on the installed hardware and cooling arrangement.

| Component | Listed clearance or condition |
|---|---|
| Graphics card | Up to 430 mm with the included front fans installed |
| CPU cooler | 221 mm for Intel builds; 220 mm for AMD builds |
| Power supply | 150 mm north-south or 210 mm east-west, depending on orientation |
These figures come from Cooler Master’s specifications. Before buying, compare them with the actual dimensions of your parts and account for any radiator, fan, cable, or other hardware that occupies the same space. The stated GPU length in particular is tied to the included front-fan arrangement.
#1 Best Overall
- Oversized Mighty40 cooling system with two 220 x 40 mm front intake fans and one 180 x 40 mm rear exhaust fan.
- Low airflow resistance design uses large front and rear ventilation openings to improve airflow throughput.
- Split-level cable management optimizes routing space and creates room for oversized rear exhaust cooling.
- MasterRail mounting system supports multiple fan and radiator sizes at the front and top of the case.
- Dual-Mode GPU Holder clamps a single GPU for added stability or supports two GPUs up to 3.6 slots (72 mm) thick each.
Which fans are included, and what do their ratings mean?
The stock arrangement is two 220 × 220 × 40 mm Mighty40 F220 fans at the front as intakes, plus one 180 × 180 × 40 mm Mighty40 V180 fan at the rear. Cooler Master publishes these maximum specifications:
| Fan | Rated speed | Maximum airflow | Maximum static pressure | Maximum noise |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mighty40 F220, two included | 200–1,050 rpm | 203.8 CFM | 3.1 mmH₂O | 36 dB(A) at 1 m |
| Mighty40 V180, one included | 250–1,370 rpm | 161.5 CFM | 4.0 mmH₂O | 34 dB(A) at 1 m |
These are manufacturer component ratings, not measurements of the HAF II 500 with a complete system installed. They do not tell you the case’s temperatures or noise level under a particular workload, fan curve, or room condition.

How MasterRail changes fan and radiator layouts
The top panel supports either three 120/140 mm fans or two 160/180 mm fans. The rear takes one 180 mm fan. At the front, the default layout uses the two 220 mm fans; with MasterRail, Cooler Master lists alternatives of three 120/140 mm fans or two 160/180 mm fans.
Cooler Master lists radiator support at the top and, with MasterRail, at the front. The options include 240, 280, and 360-120 mm configurations, as well as a conditional 360-180 mm arrangement. Do not assume that every listed 360 mm radiator configuration will fit alongside every motherboard, GPU, or other component: the manufacturer says fit depends on neighboring hardware and component thickness.

The EU store page gives configuration-specific combined fan-and-radiator thickness limits of 58 mm for one illustrated arrangement and 72 mm for another; the latter requires removing the airflow divider. These are not universal clearance figures. Check the specific layout and surrounding parts against the current Cooler Master EU Store listing before selecting a radiator.
Other practical details for a build
- Airflow path: Cooler Master describes the lower intake as divided and aimed at hot components. Tom’s Hardware’s event-floor preview also described a curved baffle that directs most lower-fan air toward the graphics card and some toward the PSU chamber. These are descriptions of the design, not proof of better GPU temperatures.
- Storage: With a PSU up to 150 mm, the case lists three 3.5-inch and six 2.5-inch drive positions. With a PSU over 150 mm and up to 210 mm, that changes to two 3.5-inch and four 2.5-inch positions.
- Cable routing: Listed routing clearance is 15–40 mm.
- Fan and lighting hub: The case includes a six-port PWM and six-port ARGB hub with 54 W total capacity.
- Front I/O: One USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and a 3.5 mm headset jack.
- Dust filtering: Filters are listed at the top, front, and PSU bottom.
- Warranty: Cooler Master lists two years for the case and five years for the fans; applicable terms can vary by region.
Is the HAF II 500 quiet or cooler than other cases?
That has not been established by the available published testing. Tom’s Hardware’s June 2, 2026 preview said it had no cooling metrics and described only an event-floor impression: the airflow was perceptible behind the case from a few feet away, while fan noise could not be heard over the crowd. The report said lab testing would follow once the case was available. That observation is not a controlled noise or temperature result, and it cannot support a comparison with other cases. Read the preview.

Cooler Master’s fan airflow, pressure, and noise figures describe the individual fans at their stated maximums; they are not whole-case test results. A useful measured comparison would need to identify the test hardware, ambient conditions, workload, fan settings, sound-measurement distance and method, competing cases, and repeatability. Without those results, whether the HAF II 500 is quieter or cooler than another case remains an open question.
Price and availability depend on region and date
When accessed, Cooler Master’s EU Store listing showed €184.99 including VAT and out-of-stock status. The page also said the first presale batch had sold out, direct-site orders were expected to ship from September 15, and European availability through authorized retail and distribution partners was expected from September 2026. Those details are a time-sensitive EU snapshot, not a current price or availability guarantee elsewhere. Check the live listing and local retailers for current stock, price, and warranty terms.

Who should consider the HAF II 500?
The HAF II 500 is a candidate for builders who want a large mid-tower, stock 220 mm front intakes, broad component clearances, and the option to rearrange fan or radiator mounting with MasterRail. Its main practical checks are physical footprint, PSU-orientation trade-offs for drive capacity, and the exact radiator-and-component combination. Buyers who need evidence of low noise or superior cooling should wait for controlled case-level testing rather than infer performance from fan ratings or an event-floor impression.
