CONTROL Resonant update 1.4.0 lets you start New Game++ runs indefinitely, and Remedy says it fixes the bug that changed Dylan’s outfit after fast-traveling to Downtown Zone once the credits had rolled. The patch also adds quality-of-life options and addresses a broad range of gameplay, presentation, and technical issues. Hotfix 1.4.1 followed on 2 October 2026 to correct two problems introduced by 1.4.0.
What does update 1.4.0 add?
The headline feature is unlimited repeat runs: Remedy’s notes say players can now start an infinite number of New Game++ runs. The update also brings several interface and accessibility improvements.
- Build Power on the Loadout screen: a number makes your build’s power easier to assess.
- Gap purchase and upgrade notifications: the HUD indicates when purchases or upgrades are available.
- Vendor material visibility: pinned upgrade materials available at a Vendor can appear on the map.
- Radio dialogue volume: a separate slider lets you adjust radio dialogue independently.
- Power Core Charge Duration Assist Mode: an Assist Mode multiplier provides another way to adjust this mechanic.
- Copyrighted music option: “Mute copyrighted music” can mute Apocalyptica’s “Upperhand” during the intro credits.
- Razer haptics: the notes also list support for Razer haptics.
Remedy reports that Unknown Zone combat and intensity were reduced by 10%–15%. That figure describes the developer’s stated adjustment; it is not a measured result across players or a claim that every encounter feels that much easier. The official notes say their public fix list is selective rather than exhaustive. Read Remedy’s update 1.4.0 notes.
Did the update fix the outfit-changing fast-travel bug?
Yes. Remedy specifically lists a fix for an issue where Dylan’s outfits changed when fast-traveling to Downtown Zone after the credits had rolled. That is the bug behind the “magic doors change my trousers” description: the notes describe an outfit changing during fast travel, not a separate supernatural clothing mechanic.

What carries over into New Game++?
Update 1.4.0 establishes that repeat New Game++ runs can be started without a stated limit. It does not announce new carryover rules. In an earlier explanation of New Game Plus, Remedy Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov said players carry over Aberrant upgrades, improvements to health and combat-ability resources, unlocked supernatural combat abilities, talents, and artifacts. Traversal abilities do not carry over because they are tied to story progression.
Mohov also described returning encounters and enemies as evolving to challenge players, and said the mode gives players more room to experiment with builds. His explanation predates update 1.4.0, so it provides context for New Game Plus rather than a confirmation that those rules changed with this patch. What else did 1.4.0 fix?
The notes span audio, visuals, code, game design, level design, lighting, localization, narrative, the user interface, and visual effects. Among the examples Remedy lists are HDR artifacts and oversaturated highlights, a crash when toggling ray-tracing modes, Steam Controller reconnection problems under Steam Input, incorrect or persistent map markers, quest-progression and encounter issues, and controls or interactions in several fights. These are examples from the published notes, not a complete inventory of every fix.

Remedy’s next hotfix addressed two problems introduced by 1.4.0. A required Mold could not be eaten, blocking progress in The Park Resonant quest. Separately, a movement fix had inadvertently canceled dash momentum while using Elevate. The 1.4.1 announcement was recorded by SteamDB on 2 October 2026. See the SteamDB record of hotfix 1.4.1.
