Is the BW-1602 any good?
The available evidence is not enough to give a reliable performance verdict. CHOICE’s accessible record hides its expert rating and most performance results behind member access. It therefore does not support claims that the BW-1602 excels or struggles with carpet cleaning, pet hair, noise, ease of use, reliability, or owner satisfaction.

For a comparison with another vacuum, look for comparable measurements such as dust capacity, reach, weight, and power, as well as included tools and the terms in effect when each model was sold. Independent performance scores are useful only when the results are accessible and comparable.

How do you care for the filters?
The handbook says the vacuum has three filters that need regular cleaning: a main filter assembly with fabric and foam components, plus a foam air-outlet filter. It directs users to wash applicable components in warm running water and let them dry completely before reassembly. Follow the full handbook for the exact cleaning procedure and component handling.
- Disconnect the vacuum from mains power before cleaning. The handbook says: “Always disconnect the cleaner from mains power before any cleaning operation.”
- Clean the filters as directed and allow every washed component to dry completely before putting it back.
- Reassemble the filters before operating the vacuum; the handbook says never to run it without them.
The handbook warns: “If the container is over-full or if the filter becomes blocked, suction will reduce significantly and the cleaner may overheat.” It also says to stop the machine if an intake or attachment becomes blocked. Its troubleshooting guidance says a thermal cutout may require switching the vacuum off, unplugging it, and letting it stand for one hour.

Can you buy a replacement filter or the vacuum today?
CHOICE lists the BW-1602 as discontinued, so current availability is not established by that record. The handbook confirms that the vacuum has filters to clean, but it does not give a replacement-filter SKU or a third-party compatibility specification. Do not assume a generic filter fits without confirming compatibility for the BW-1602. The available sources also do not verify current replacement attachments or parts.
