Construction is underway on an 11-mile stretch of Interstate 10 in both directions, from Loop 202 to the Gila River. The work is the third of four segments in ADOT’s 26-mile Wild Horse Pass Corridor project, which runs south from Phoenix toward Casa Grande.
Where the active construction is taking place
The current work zone extends along I-10 between Loop 202 and the Gila River. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced on October 5, 2026, that crews had begun active construction on this 11-mile segment in both directions. ADOT’s construction announcement identifies the segment limits.
This is one part of a larger corridor project: the full Wild Horse Pass Corridor extends about 26 miles from Loop 202 in south Phoenix to SR 387 near Casa Grande. The corridor is being delivered in four segments, and the Loop 202–Gila River work is the third. ADOT’s corridor overview describes the overall limits and project segments.

More lanes
The project plans to add a third general-purpose lane in each direction along the active segment. It also extends HOV lanes from Loop 202 to Riggs Road; that HOV extension does not run the full 11 miles to the Gila River, according to ADOT’s project description.
#1 Best Overall

Interchanges and traffic-management equipment
ADOT lists reconstruction of the interchanges at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard, Riggs Road, and Queen Creek Road/SR 347, plus a new interchange at Koli Road. The project also includes overhead message boards, freeway cameras, and wrong-way detection systems.
How to interpret the project timeline
ADOT’s July 22, 2026 update said all four segments of the Wild Horse Pass Corridor project were expected to be complete by late 2029. That is the target for the corridor as a whole, not a separately stated completion date for this 11-mile segment. Project schedules can change; the July update does not establish a guaranteed finish date. Read ADOT’s July 2026 corridor update.
