You can connect a Bluetooth speaker directly only if your specific VIZIO TV supports Bluetooth speaker audio. Check the TV’s model number and its VIZIO support page or manual before following pairing steps; Bluetooth features and menu labels vary by model.
Check whether your VIZIO TV supports Bluetooth speaker audio
Do not assume that a VIZIO Smart TV can pair with a Bluetooth speaker just because it has Bluetooth-related features. VIZIO’s support site has an article titled “Pairing a Bluetooth audio device to your VIZIO TV”, but support availability and instructions must be checked for your exact model.
To identify the TV, look for its model number on the label on the back of the set, in the TV’s system information, or on its original documentation. Search VIZIO support for that model and check the model page or manual for explicit Bluetooth audio-device or speaker support. Do this before buying a speaker or trying to pair one.
Bluetooth specifications are model-specific
VIZIO’s example model pages show why the model check matters: the VFD32M-0807 lists Bluetooth 5.0 and Bluetooth headphone support, while the M43Q6M-K04 lists Bluetooth 5.2 with BLE and Bluetooth headphone capability. Those specifications apply to those models; they do not establish that every VIZIO TV supports Bluetooth speakers. Headphone support also should not be treated as proof of speaker support unless VIZIO’s instructions for your model confirm it.

Pair the speaker only if your model’s instructions support it
If VIZIO’s documentation for your TV confirms Bluetooth speaker audio, use the instructions for that model rather than relying on a generic menu path. VIZIO’s published pairing article is the relevant starting point, but its instructions should be confirmed against the TV’s accessible model-specific documentation.
- Confirm compatibility: Find your model number and verify that its VIZIO support page or manual covers Bluetooth speaker or Bluetooth audio-device pairing.
- Prepare the speaker: Put the speaker into pairing mode as directed in its own manufacturer’s instructions.
- Follow the VIZIO instructions for your TV: Use the documented menu labels and pairing sequence for that model. Do not assume a particular menu path applies to all VIZIO Smart TVs.
- Check the result: Confirm that the TV identifies the speaker as the selected audio device and that sound plays through it. If it does not appear, follow the model’s troubleshooting guidance and verify that the speaker is still in pairing mode.
If direct Bluetooth pairing is not documented
Check the audio outputs listed for your TV before considering another connection method. Some VIZIO models document HDMI ARC/eARC or a digital optical audio output (SPDIF), but the available ports differ by model. For example, VIZIO lists HDMI ARC and SPDIF for the VFD32M-0807, and HDMI eARC/ARC and SPDIF for the M43Q6M-K04.

Those ports do not by themselves establish that a Bluetooth transmitter will work with your TV or speaker. Consult the TV’s manual for its audio-output options and settings, then verify that any external device supports the specific output and connection you plan to use. If you prefer a wired connection, check the manual for a compatible audio output and speaker input before connecting them.
