The software event behind this headline was real, but it dates to October 2022—not a new 2026 release. A report published on October 13, 2022 listed ColorOS 13.0.0 Open Beta build F.10 full ZIP packages for the China-market OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8T. International devices were handled separately through OnePlus’s India-only OxygenOS 13 Open Beta program. Do not treat the ColorOS files as universal OTA packages.
ColorOS or OxygenOS?
OnePlus and OPPO share underlying technology, but firmware packages remain region- and model-specific. The historical report called its files ColorOS 13.0.0 Open Beta, build F.10, intended for China-market phones (AndroidSage report, October 13, 2022). OnePlus’s official international announcements used the name OxygenOS 13 Open Beta and marked the releases IN ONLY for Indian devices (OnePlus 8/8 Pro announcement; OnePlus 8T announcement).
Therefore, a global, European or North American OnePlus 8-series phone should not be assumed compatible with a China ColorOS ZIP. A package can be rejected, break cellular functions or require a destructive recovery if the model or region is wrong.
Devices and regional eligibility
| Device | Historical package or program | Region and prerequisite |
|---|---|---|
| OnePlus 8 | ColorOS 13 F.10 report; OxygenOS 13 Open Beta | ColorOS: China-market report. OxygenOS beta: India only, OxygenOS 12 C.35 |
| OnePlus 8 Pro | ColorOS 13 F.10 report; OxygenOS 13 Open Beta | ColorOS: China-market report. OxygenOS beta: India only, OxygenOS 12 C.35 |
| OnePlus 8T | ColorOS 13 F.10 report; OxygenOS 13 Open Beta | India-only beta required C.35; later Open Beta 2 accepted C.35/C.36 |
Retail names are not enough. Check the exact model identifier, software region suffix and complete build number in Settings → About device. Carrier-branded, rooted, bootloader-modified or cross-region phones need model-specific confirmation before any flash.

What the original downloads were
The AndroidSage article listed one full ZIP for each of the three device families. These were not ordinary incremental OTA patches, and the article’s China-server links were third-party references rather than a durable current OnePlus archive. A dead link or mirror is not evidence that a replacement file is safe. Before using any mirror, verify provenance, model code, region, file name, checksum where available and the matching release notes.
Earlier coverage also discussed ColorOS 13 closed-beta packages, including F.03, before the later open-beta reporting (Daxiaamu). Closed-beta and open-beta files should not be substituted for one another.
What OnePlus’s OxygenOS 13 beta added
The official changelog described the following features; these are vendor claims, not independent performance tests:
- Aquamorphic Design colors and animation changes
- Shadow-Reflective Clock and Quantum Animation Engine 4.0
- More responsive layouts, revised widgets, fonts and system icons
- Kid Space and an improved Private Safe using AES encryption
- HyperBoost GPA 4.0 gaming optimizations and faster game pre-launch behavior
- System-stability and battery improvements
Details appear in the official OnePlus 8/8 Pro announcement and OnePlus 8T Open Beta 2 announcement.
Known beta problems
Initial OnePlus notices listed abnormal charging prompts on the lock screen, low-resolution camera video that could not be sent through MMS, and incorrect icons in the Control Center editor. The 8T notice additionally mentioned incorrect Life-mode timing and a possible black screen when opening the camera inside Messenger. Open Beta 2 added the October 2022 Android security patch and further fixes, while retaining known beta limitations (8/8 Pro notice; 8T notice; 8T Open Beta 2).

Compatibility checklist before downloading
- Confirm the exact model identifier, not just “OnePlus 8.”
- Match the package’s region: China ColorOS or India OxygenOS.
- For the initial Indian beta, run OxygenOS 12 C.35; 8T Open Beta 2 allowed C.35 or C.36.
- Keep the stock bootloader, recovery and system partitions unless the release explicitly supports modifications.
- Back up photos, messages, documents, app data, authenticator accounts and locally stored 2FA recovery codes.
- For the 8T instructions, OnePlus stated more than 30% battery and at least 5.5 GB free storage.
- Do not use a beta on a phone needed for critical work, payments or emergency connectivity.
Official local-install procedure for the Indian OxygenOS beta
- Download the ZIP that matches the exact device, Indian region and required base build.
- Copy the ZIP to the phone’s internal storage without extracting it.
- Open Settings → About device → Version.
- Tap Build number repeatedly to enable developer mode. The archived posts differ between five and seven taps, so follow the instructions in the release post for your model.
- Return to the system-update screen and choose the local-installation option.
- Select the ZIP, confirm the upgrade and allow the phone to reboot. Keep it connected to power and do not interrupt the process.
If Local install is absent, some OxygenOS 12 versions required developer options first; see the contemporaneous OnePlus community discussion. Do not use the historical third-party North American updater-APK method without an archived package and verified instructions; the report warned that it could erase the phone.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Rollback and recovery
Use only the matching official rollback package for the same model and region. OnePlus’s rollback instructions explicitly warned that the process erases device contents (stable OxygenOS 13 announcement). Confirm that your backup can actually be restored before starting.
- ZIP rejected: recheck region, model, base build, download integrity and storage location.
- Mobile service fails: stop cross-region flashing and use the exact model’s rollback or authorized service route.
- Boot loop after rollback: do not try random ZIPs; preserve the correct package and contact OnePlus support or an authorized repair center.
- Payments fail: use backup authentication methods and treat certification recovery as a possible consequence of beta software.
What happened after the beta
OnePlus began a stable OxygenOS 13 rollout for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro in at least some European markets on November 16, 2022. The announcement cited examples such as IN2015_11.F.13 for North America and IN2013_11.F.13 for Europe (OnePlus Community). That historical rollout does not establish that the old beta files remain hosted, supported or appropriate in 2026.

Can a global OnePlus 8 install the reported ColorOS file?
Not on the evidence available here. The F.10 files were reported as China-market packages; global owners should use a release explicitly matching their region and model.

Is ColorOS 13 F.10 the same release as OxygenOS 13?
They share Android 13-era foundations, but OnePlus identified the Indian program as OxygenOS 13. Branding, regional configuration and package compatibility differ.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

The upgrade path was not universally described as a wipe, but OnePlus required backups because beta installation carries risk. Official rollback does erase contents.
Is this a current open-beta download?
No current availability is established by these 2022 announcements. Treat them as historical documentation and verify any present file through an official, model-specific source.
The Bottom Line
The October 2022 event was genuine, but it was not a universal ColorOS OTA. China-market phones were associated with the reported ColorOS 13 F.10 ZIPs, while Indian phones entered an OxygenOS 13 Open Beta requiring the correct model, region and C.35-based firmware. Verify every package before flashing, back up completely and assume rollback can erase the device.
