For a specific game, use the latest official availability report issued by the governing conference or competition. College football has no single report schedule or universal set of status labels: rules differ by conference, season, and game context, and a player’s availability does not establish whether they will start or how much they will play.
What does questionable mean on a college football injury report?
“Questionable” means a player’s availability is uncertain under a policy that uses the term. It is not a diagnosis, and the exact definition depends on the competition. For example, the Big 12 and SEC define Questionable as a 50% chance of playing in their policies. Those percentages are policy shorthand, not clinical probabilities or independently measured forecasts: Big 12 policy and SEC regulations.
How the common labels are used
These terms describe expected availability, not the nature or severity of an injury. Read them according to the policy governing that game.

| Status | Typical meaning | Policy-specific qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Available | Expected to be available to dress and play, subject to the applicable definition. | The SEC defines Available as 100% in its policy. Big Ten rules for 2026 also treat players not listed on a report as Available. |
| Probable | Expected or likely to play. | The Big 12 and SEC define it as a 75% chance of playing. |
| Questionable | Uncertain to play. | The Big 12 and SEC define it as a 50% chance of playing. |
| Doubtful | Unlikely to play. | The Big 12 and SEC define it as a 25% chance of playing. |
| Out | Will not play under the relevant report. | The Big 12 and SEC define it as a 0% chance of playing. In the SEC, Out may reflect reasons beyond injury. |
| Game Time Decision | The decision remains unresolved at the time of the game-day report. | The SEC says coaches or medical personnel evaluate the athlete during pregame warmups. It does not promise the player will play. |
| Out (1st Half) | A distinct, limited-period designation used in the Big Ten’s 2026 reports. | Do not read it as full-game unavailability; the conference lists it separately. |
Not every report uses every label. Game-day categories can also differ from midweek categories, so compare like-for-like reports rather than assuming that labels mean exactly the same thing across conferences.
#1 Best Overall
- 【Protect the wrist, prevent injuries】 This wrist brace effectively limits excessive dorsiflexion of the wrist during high-intensity football confrontations (e.g., the moment of falling and planting a hand on the ground) as well as cycling bumps and emergency braking. It helps the wrist maintain proper posture, reducing the risk of scaphoid fractures, TFCC injuries, wrist sprains, and other issues, thereby preventing wrist injuries.
- 【Effective protection, combining support and comfort】 Featuring a 4-layer composite structure: a soft, skin-friendly inner layer; a middle layer of dual high-density foam for cushioning; and a reinforced outer layer of premium leather. It provides stable support for frequent hand exertion and impact in football, while also dampening vibrations transmitted from the handlebars during cycling and relieving wrist pressure from prolonged gripping.
- 【Secure fit, all-around protection】 With double-strap Velcro fastening and an elastic sleeve, this brace stays firmly in place whether during intense football scrums and ground confrontations or bumpy cycling conditions. Whether for wrist protection during sports or as auxiliary support for minor wrist discomfort, this wrist brace offers excellent assistance.
- 【Lightweight design, comfortable experience】 This wrist brace weighs only 3.3 ounces and features a lightweight design, making it almost imperceptible when worn. While providing effective wrist protection, it does not restrict the wrist strength and flexibility needed for ball control, nor does it affect handlebar grip and control during cycling.
- 【4 sizes available, suitable for both left and right wrists】This wrist brace is easy to put on and take off, and is available in 4 sizes, S, M, L and XL, and is suitable for both left and right wrists. In addition, a detailed manual with illustrations is included to assist you. If you have any questions about sizing, please feel free to contact us.
When do college football injury reports come out?
There is no nationwide release time. The schedule depends on the conference or competition, and season-specific policies can change. These official examples illustrate the differences:
| Competition and season | Report timing | Categories described in the policy |
|---|---|---|
| Big Ten, 2026 season, games against conference opponents | Three days, two days, and one day before kickoff, then two hours before kickoff. | Midweek: Probable, Questionable, Doubtful, Out, or Out (1st Half). Game day: Game Time Decision, Out, or Out (1st Half). |
| Big 12, policy beginning in 2025–26, conference games | Daily beginning three days before the game, posted at 9 p.m. CT; final report 90 minutes before kickoff. | During the week: Available, Probable, Questionable, Doubtful, or Out. Game day: Available, Game Time Decision, or Out. |
| ACC, conference games | Daily beginning three nights before the game, with another report on game day two hours before the scheduled start. | Pregame: Available, Probable, Questionable, Doubtful, or Out. Game day: Available, Game Time Decision, or Out. |
| SEC, 2025–26 regulations, Saturday games | By Wednesday evening, with Thursday and Friday updates; game-day update 90 minutes before kickoff. | Pregame: Available, Probable, Questionable, Doubtful, or Out. Game day: Available, Game Time Decision, or Out. |
| College Football Playoff, beginning with 2025–26 season | Reports start three days before each playoff game, update daily, and end with a final report 90 minutes before game time. | The CFP summary page does not state detailed labels. Consult the full CFP policy rather than importing another conference’s definitions. |

Does out mean a player is injured?
No. “Out” describes unavailability to play, not its cause. Under the SEC policy, unavailability can also relate to illness, suspension, eligibility, or personal matters. A public status report does not, by itself, reveal or confirm a diagnosis. The relevant policy may define the label without disclosing private medical details.

There is no universal rule for an omitted name. The Big Ten’s 2026 policy says, “Student-athletes not listed on a report are considered Available.” That rule applies within the announcement’s conference-game scope, which also defines which visiting players are included. The SEC recognizes exemptions for some athletes not expected to play or who appear only infrequently. Check the policy’s scope and exemptions before interpreting an omission.

How do injury reports affect the starting lineup?
An availability report can help explain whether a player may be available, but it does not confirm a starter designation, a snap count, or a role. A Game Time Decision leaves the question open for later evaluation; under the SEC policy, that evaluation occurs in pregame warmups. Even an Available designation is not a promise that the player will start or receive a particular workload.
How to interpret a late update
- Find the official report for the specific game from the governing conference or event, rather than relying on an older repost or an unofficial summary.
- Check the report timestamp and how much time remains before kickoff. A game-day designation may differ from a midweek one.
- Read the status using that competition’s policy, including any special categories or exemptions.
- Look for a subsequent official update. Treat the latest published report as the current snapshot, not as confirmation of the eventual lineup or playing time.
When comparing two reports, account for their timestamps, the governing competition, whether each is midweek or game day, whether the player falls within report scope, and any later official status change. Avoid treating similarly named labels as interchangeable across leagues.
