What happened to Colin Porter’s eligibility?
Marquette announced Porter as a transfer from Liberty on Aug. 27, 2026, for the 2026–27 campaign. RotoWire’s Oct. 2 update later reported that he had been ruled ineligible after the NCAA won a Kentucky court case. RotoWire attributed that update to The Field of 68; it did not provide the underlying court order.
That distinction matters: the ineligibility development is reported information, not a conclusion independently confirmed here from a court document or a direct Marquette or NCAA statement. The order’s date, precise scope, legal basis, and any appeal status are not established by the cited material.

An Aug. 22 report on the Kentucky litigation named Porter among plaintiffs seeking a fifth year of eligibility and said a judge had granted temporary relief to the plaintiffs. That is earlier context, not the later order described in the Oct. 2 update; it does not establish why or how the later ruling affected Porter.

Is the Colorado eligibility case the same case?
No. The Associated Press reported on Aug. 21 that a Colorado appellate ruling paused a broad eligibility order, while other lawsuits remained active. That Colorado litigation is separate from the Kentucky case tied to Porter in the Oct. 2 report. The Colorado appellate action does not establish the ruling in Porter’s case.
What Marquette’s roster says about Porter
Marquette’s 2026–27 roster lists Porter as a fifth-year, 5-foot-10 guard from Ashland, Kentucky. The roster also reports his 2025–26 Liberty averages as 11.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, with 35.8 percent shooting from three-point range. These are the university’s figures for his Liberty season; a fifth-year roster label is not itself a current NCAA eligibility determination.
