The CMF Phone 2 Pro has the edge on several hardware points in this comparison: its reviewed 5G matchup pairs a 120Hz display with a dedicated 2x optical telephoto camera, and Frandroid found its performance stronger. The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G counters with a longer stated software-support period and optical image stabilization on its main camera. Both have 5,000mAh batteries, but that figure alone does not predict how long either phone lasts.
There is no single reliable global price difference. The available prices come from different countries, dates, configurations and kinds of listings. Compare offers in your own market for the same storage and network variant.

Which display is better for everyday use?
The CMF’s 120Hz panel can refresh more often than the A17’s 90Hz panel, which may make scrolling and supported animations look smoother. Its screen is also slightly larger. Frandroid measured higher brightness for CMF in its comparison, while Tom’s Guide recorded a 1,179-nit peak on its CMF review unit in 2025. That is a review measurement, not a guaranteed brightness figure for every unit or viewing condition.
On the specifications in this matchup, CMF is the more compelling pick if refresh rate and screen size matter most. The A17 still offers a high-resolution AMOLED-class display; the available evidence does not establish that the CMF panel is better in every aspect, such as color accuracy or outdoor readability across conditions.
How do performance and gaming compare?
The CMF Phone 2 Pro uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G, while the Galaxy A17 5G uses Samsung’s Exynos 1330. Frandroid’s comparison favored the CMF in benchmark performance. Tom’s Guide reported lag and weak graphics performance on its A17 review unit. Those are publication findings about tested devices, not a promise of identical results in every app or game; performance can also depend on software, workload and configuration.
If you play graphics-intensive games or want more headroom for demanding apps, the review evidence points toward CMF. For basic everyday tasks, the processor names alone do not establish how either phone will feel in your particular workload.

Which phone has the more useful cameras?
The rear-camera systems serve different priorities. CMF has a dedicated 50MP 2x optical telephoto camera, which gives it a separate lens for zoomed framing, plus an 8MP ultrawide. Samsung’s 50MP main camera includes OIS—optical image stabilization—and its additional cameras are a 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro.
- Choose CMF’s camera hardware if a dedicated 2x optical zoom and the higher-resolution ultrawide are appealing.
- Consider Samsung’s main camera if optical stabilization on the primary camera is important to you.
Megapixel counts and lens types do not by themselves prove which phone takes better photos. The comparison does not establish a universal image-quality winner. CMF also has a listed 16MP front camera and 4K/30 video, compared with the A17’s listed 13MP front camera and 1080p/30 video; higher listed resolution alone does not guarantee better-looking results.
Battery capacity, measured runtime and charging
Both phones are listed with a 5,000mAh battery. In Tom’s Guide’s 2025 dynamic-refresh battery test, the CMF lasted 15 hours 24 minutes. Tom’s Guide measured 7 hours 52 minutes for the Galaxy A17 in its own battery-drain test in 2026. These results use different publication protocols, so they are not a valid direct comparison.
Frandroid reported a same-test GSM Arena automated result of 14h38 for CMF and 11h48 for the A17. That pair is more useful for a relative comparison because it comes from the same test as reported by the same source, but it remains a test result rather than a guarantee of personal runtime. Screen settings, signal, apps and usage affect battery life.

Tom’s Guide lists 33W wired charging for CMF and 25W for the A17. Frandroid reports no wireless charging for either model in its comparison. The higher wired charging rating does not, on its own, establish a particular real-world charging time.

Frandroid reports three years of software support for the CMF Phone 2 Pro and six years for the Galaxy A17 5G. On that stated-period comparison, Samsung offers the longer commitment. The source does not establish the exact local breakdown between major Android-version upgrades and security updates, so check the manufacturer’s wording for your country and specific model before treating the periods as equivalent types of updates.
What is the price difference?
Prices are only meaningfully comparable when they refer to the same market, date, storage configuration, network variant and type of price. The available snapshots illustrate why a single worldwide difference would be misleading:
