The CMF Phone 1 is the more compelling fit if you want a 120 Hz display, faster stated wired charging and a customizable detachable back. Samsung’s Galaxy M17 5G is the stronger long-term choice on paper, with a much longer software-support promise, IP54 protection, expandable storage and a rear camera system that includes optical image stabilization (OIS) and an ultra-wide camera.
There is no reliable current price difference to quote from the available listings. Samsung’s published figures are Indian launch prices from October 2025, while a current comparable CMF Phone 1 price was not established. Compare matching RAM and storage variants at checkout before deciding on price.

The two companies describe screen brightness using different measurement language, so the listed nit figures should not be treated as a direct lab comparison. CMF Phone 1 has the higher refresh rate: up to 120 Hz versus the M17’s 90 Hz. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother, though the exact experience also depends on software and content. Both phones use AMOLED-family displays, so the choice is not simply AMOLED versus LCD.

Samsung specifies a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel and 1,100 nits HBM peak brightness in its launch materials. Nothing lists the CMF Phone 1’s 6.67-inch AMOLED panel at 2,000 nits peak brightness. Because the stated brightness modes differ, those figures alone do not establish which screen will look brighter in every situation. How do the cameras compare?
The Galaxy M17 has the more fully specified rear-camera selection: a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 5 MP ultra-wide camera and a 2 MP macro camera. OIS can help counter small movements, but it does not guarantee blur-free photos or video in all conditions. Samsung describes “No shake camera” as promotional wording for OIS, not a promise of a particular result.

CMF Phone 1 pairs a 50 MP Sony main camera with a portrait sensor. Its listed 16 MP front camera has a higher stated resolution than the M17’s 13 MP front camera, but megapixel counts do not by themselves show which phone produces better photos or selfies. No controlled image-quality comparison is established here.
Battery, charging and storage differences
Both phones are listed with 5,000 mAh batteries. CMF specifies 33 W charging, while Samsung specifies 25 W and says the charger is sold separately. The higher wattage is an advantage on paper for CMF, but it does not establish actual charging time or battery endurance; those depend on factors such as the charger, usage and conditions.

The M17 supports microSD cards up to 2 TB, according to Samsung, using a hybrid SIM/microSD slot. A card can add storage, but the hybrid arrangement means buyers should check whether using microSD conflicts with their preferred SIM setup. CMF’s comparison point is physical customization: its phone has a detachable back and an accessory attachment point. Check accessory fit for the exact Phone 1 model before buying an attachment.
Which phone has the longer software support?
Samsung states that the Galaxy M17 will receive six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Its product page lists security support through 30 September 2031; Samsung says update plans and timing can change. Nothing states two years of major Android updates and three years of security updates for the CMF Phone 1. On the published commitments, Samsung offers the longer support window, which may matter if you plan to keep the phone for several years.

What is the price difference in India?
A dependable current price difference cannot be calculated from the available information. Samsung’s official 13 October 2025 announcement gave these Indian launch prices for the Galaxy M17 5G. The ₹12,499 price was identified as a net price inclusive of a special launch offer; the other two figures were also launch-era prices, not verified live offers.

The Nothing India page shows an 8 GB/128 GB selector and a Flipkart shop link, but the page information available here does not establish a comparable current price.
