Clutch Security announced a $20 million Series A on January 30, 2025, led by SignalFire, with existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Merlin Ventures participating. The company said the funding would expand go-to-market efforts, research and development, product innovation, and customer success. It reported $28.5 million in total funding after the round.
Who invested in Clutch Security?
SignalFire led the Series A. Lightspeed Venture Partners and Merlin Ventures, both existing investors, also participated. Clutch announced the round on January 30, 2025; TechCrunch reported on it the previous day.
Clutch said the round brought its total funding to $28.5 million. That figure and the investor details are from the company’s funding announcement.
What will the funding support?
Clutch said it planned to use the capital for go-to-market expansion, research and development, product innovation, and customer success. TechCrunch’s coverage described the planned spending as research and development, product development, and business development. The announcement does not disclose a dollar-by-dollar allocation among those areas.

What does Clutch Security do?
Clutch sells enterprise cybersecurity software for managing non-human identities (NHIs): the machine accounts and credentials that services, applications, and infrastructure use to authenticate and access resources. Examples include service accounts, API keys, tokens, secrets, and certificates. These identities can be difficult for organizations to track because they are created and used across cloud services, software-development systems, and other business tools.
Funding-era approach
In January 2025, Clutch framed its product around extending Zero Trust security principles to NHIs, with an emphasis on ephemeral identities and dynamic controls. Co-founder and CEO Ofir Har-Chen described the company’s approach in the announcement as “pioneered Zero Trust for NHIs.” That is the company’s characterization, not independent evidence of market leadership.
Current platform description
Clutch’s later platform materials describe functions for discovering and inventorying non-human identities and their context; governing identity lifecycles and conducting access reviews; assessing posture and risk; detecting and responding to behavior; and applying Zero Trust controls, including moving from static credentials toward short-lived alternatives. The company says its platform connects with cloud providers, SaaS applications, code repositories, CI/CD pipelines, vaults, password managers, endpoints, and AI platforms.
These are vendor-described capabilities, not independently tested results. The company’s platform page and discovery page outline the product’s current functions.

How has Clutch’s positioning changed since the funding announcement?
The January 2025 announcement focused on non-human identity security. In a May 2026 description, Clutch grouped its current business into non-human identity security, secret security, and agentic AI security. It says its Identity Lineage concept maps an identity or secret’s origin, ownership, storage, consumers, and reachable resources. This later positioning should not be read as a claim that every part of the 2026 offering was included in the 2025 funding announcement.

TechCrunch reported a Venafi comparison estimating 320,000 machine identities at a typical large enterprise in 2022 and 1 million in 2024. The figures are attributed secondhand to Venafi through TechCrunch; the underlying Venafi publication was not independently checked here.

Separately, Clutch claimed in a July 6, 2025 post that enterprise environments had 82 non-human identities for every human identity. That is a company-published figure, not an independently corroborated market statistic.
