For most people, Hostinger is the one to choose if you need a place to run a website. Cloudflare is not a conventional web host. It sells DNS, content delivery (CDN), security, domain registration and developer-platform services that can sit in front of a site, and that site can stay on any host. The two are often compared because they both touch your domain and traffic, but they solve different problems, so the better choice depends on which job you need done.
What each service actually does
Cloudflare’s own domain documentation is direct on this point: “Cloudflare does not offer web hosting for most websites, though you can deploy and host JAMstack sites with Cloudflare Pages.” (Source: Cloudflare Fundamentals documentation, “Domains,” last updated 2026-04-20.) Cloudflare Pages is therefore the exception, and it is aimed at static and JAMstack-style sites rather than a general WordPress or shared-hosting workload.
Hostinger sells conventional web-hosting plans, along with site-building and management tools. Its plan page lists the features bundled with each tier, and it is the product you would buy to have a server space that runs your site. (Hostinger, “Web Hosting”.)

Where Cloudflare fits
- DNS: Cloudflare can answer DNS queries for a domain whose website is hosted elsewhere.
- CDN and security: Traffic can be routed through Cloudflare for acceleration and protection without moving the site.
- Registrar: Cloudflare Registrar is a separate service for registering and renewing domains.
- Pages: Static or JAMstack sites can be deployed directly on Cloudflare.
Where Hostinger fits
- Shared, cloud and other hosting plans that store and serve your website files.
- A dashboard that handles the hosting account, plan features and, for eligible plans, a bundled domain offer.
- A built-in CDN, which Hostinger describes as integrated into its own dashboard.
Can you use Cloudflare and Hostinger together?
Yes, with one important rule. Cloudflare DNS does not require you to give up your existing host or registrar. The change is to the nameservers: you point the domain’s authoritative nameservers to Cloudflare, and the site keeps running on the host where it already lives. (Cloudflare DNS FAQ.)

That nameserver change is where most problems happen. Before you switch, review the DNS records Cloudflare imports, particularly A, MX and TXT records. An incomplete record set can take down the website or break email. Hostinger’s own comparison article calls out the same review step during Cloudflare setup. (Hostinger, “Hostinger CDN vs Cloudflare”.)
The second rule is about CDNs. Hostinger advises that only one CDN should be active for a site. Running two can create redirect loops, stale content, or inaccurate visitor-IP information. So if you host with Hostinger, pick either its CDN or Cloudflare’s, not both.
Hostinger CDN or Cloudflare?
| Situation | Hostinger CDN | Cloudflare |
|---|---|---|
| Where it is managed | Inside the Hostinger dashboard | Through a separate Cloudflare account |
| Nameserver change needed | Requires Hostinger nameservers for full functionality | Requires pointing nameservers to Cloudflare |
| Works with a host other than Hostinger | Not available for sites hosted elsewhere, according to Hostinger | Yes, Cloudflare DNS can front a site hosted elsewhere |
| Works on Hostinger VPS | Not available on VPS, according to Hostinger | Not stated for Hostinger VPS specifically; Cloudflare DNS works with any host that accepts your records |
Hostinger lists which plans include its CDN in a separate support article (Hostinger, “Which plans include Hostinger CDN?”). Check that page before you assume the CDN is available on your tier.

Price comparisons between these two providers are misleading if you look only at the first monthly figure. Hostinger’s headline hosting rates are calculated from a 48-month term paid upfront, and the page also lists a higher renewal rate. The figures below are vendor-listed on Hostinger’s web-hosting page as captured on 2026-10-07. They are promotional, depend on eligibility, geography, taxes and the displayed term, and may have changed since.
| Hostinger plan | Promotional monthly rate | Upfront total for the 48-month term | Listed renewal monthly rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $2.99/month | $143.52 | $10.99/month |
| Unlimited | $3.99/month | $191.52 | $16.99/month |
| Cloud Startup | $7.99/month | $383.52 | $25.99/month |
On the domain side, Hostinger’s domains page advertised a .com for $0.01 in the first year on a three-year term, against a listed standard price of $19.99, with standard renewal rates applying after year one. (Hostinger, “Buy a Domain Name”, accessed 2026-10-07.)
Cloudflare Registrar takes a different approach. Cloudflare says it charges the registry and ICANN cost without markup, and that renewals are at the registry list price. (Cloudflare Registrar documentation.) To compare fairly, pick the same extension and calculate the cost over the full renewal horizon you expect to keep the domain, not just the introductory year.
Cloudflare’s own plans are billed per domain. Monthly plans bill every 30 days and annual plans bill yearly. (Cloudflare billing policy, last updated 2026-05-29.) Note that this covers Cloudflare’s plans, not a hosting bill, because Cloudflare does not host most websites.
Which one should you choose?
| Your main need | Better starting point | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| A conventional website that needs a server | Hostinger | Included resources, plan limits, support, term length and renewal price |
| DNS, CDN or security for a site already hosted elsewhere | Cloudflare | Your current host’s compatibility with Cloudflare and a clean import of your DNS records |
| A static or JAMstack site | Cloudflare Pages | Whether the site’s build and runtime needs fit Pages |
| Domain registration | Compare by extension and renewal | Full renewal price for the same extension at Cloudflare Registrar and at Hostinger |
| Hostinger hosting with a CDN | Either Hostinger CDN or Cloudflare, never both | Which CDN you are actually using before you change nameservers |
Setup checklist if you combine them
- Confirm which service handles hosting, which handles DNS and which handles registration. Write this down before making changes.
- Export or copy every existing DNS record at your current DNS provider, especially A, MX and TXT records used for email verification.
- Add the domain to Cloudflare and compare the imported records against your export. Add anything missing.
- Choose one CDN. If you host with Hostinger and use Cloudflare, turn off the Hostinger CDN for that site.
- Change the nameservers at your registrar to the ones Cloudflare gives you, then check the website and email after propagation.
What the evidence does and does not show
The official material establishes what each company says its products do, along with its published pricing and setup rules. It does not establish an independent benchmark showing that one provider is faster, more reliable or better value for every site. A fair answer therefore depends on your site type, technical skills, existing host, email setup, domain extension and renewal horizon. If you cannot name the job you need done, start with the question that matters most: do you need somewhere to host the site, or somewhere to route and protect it?
