Neither service is better in every case. Aura is the closer fit if your priority is identity and credit monitoring, financial-fraud protection, bundled device security, or family and child features. Cloaked is the closer fit if your priority is keeping your real phone number and email address out of circulation by using aliases, with data removal as a secondary layer.
This verdict rests on what each company states on its own website, checked October 7, 2026. It reflects listed features and published claims, not independent testing of either app, and neither company’s removal or protection claims have been verified as successful or permanent.
What each service is built around
Cloaked: alternate contact details and reduced exposure
Cloaked describes itself as a privacy-first identity-management service. Its Help Center states, “Cloaked is a privacy-first identity management system.” The core idea is that you create substitute phone numbers, email addresses, and payment methods, and those aliases receive messages and calls without revealing your actual contact information.
Around that core, Cloaked’s Help Center describes Call Guard, which screens and blocks spam or scam calls; Cloaked Pay, which has limited access; ongoing data-removal requests; and a password manager. Its feature page lists phone and email aliases, data removal, identity-theft insurance, Call Guard, dark-web and SSN monitoring, a VPN, and password management. That same page labels Cloaked Pay as invite-only and Family Sharing as coming soon.
#1 Best Overall
Aura: identity, financial, and device protection in one plan
Aura’s pricing page lists three-bureau credit monitoring, identity-theft insurance, antivirus, a VPN, a password manager, data removal from 425+ data brokers and Google search results, cleanup of unused digital accounts, and scam-call and message protection. It also lists parental controls and child wellbeing features. Aura’s comparison page adds email aliases, but says Aura offers no phone aliases and no virtual cards or eSIMs.

Two rows deserve a closer look. The Cloaked column for alias features comes from its comparison page, while its feature page is more general, so check the live product pages before you rely on tier limits or platform support. The Aura and Cloaked rows for insurance and removal use different measures, explained in the next two sections.

Both companies advertise broker-removal coverage, but they count different things. Aura refers to data brokers and Google search results. Cloaked’s feature page says 1,000+ sites, while its comparison page says 140+ brokers. Cloaked’s own figures conflict, and the reviewed pages do not explain how they were calculated.
A coverage count is not a result. It does not tell you whether your listing was actually removed, whether it stayed removed, or whether a broker re-listed it after a later data refresh. Removal also works differently from alias-based prevention. Aliases stop new messages and calls from reaching your real number or address. Removal targets information that brokers already hold. A service can be strong at one and weaker at the other.
When you evaluate either service’s removal feature, ask these questions before you pay:
- Which specific brokers or sites are covered, and is there a published list?
- How often does the service rescan for re-listed data?
- Do you receive confirmation for each removal, and how is that shown to you?
- Does the service handle Google search result removals, and by what process?
Neither company’s reviewed pages answer all of these, so the answers should come from the live product or from support.

Insurance: read the policy before comparing limits
Aura’s pricing page says every adult member is backed by a $1 million policy. Its comparison page describes identity-theft insurance of up to $5 million. Cloaked lists $1 million on both of its pages. These are not equivalent numbers. A per-adult limit, a maximum aggregate, and a plan-level figure can mean different things, and none of them tells you whether a particular loss qualifies.
Aura’s pricing page is direct about what the product cannot do: “No one can prevent all identity theft or monitor all transactions effectively.” Treat any insurance limit as a ceiling under specific terms, not a guarantee of reimbursement. Before you rely on either policy, find the policy document and check:
- Which losses are eligible, and which are excluded
- Whether the limit is per person, per household, or an aggregate across the plan
- Whether children on a family plan are covered, and under what limit
- The claim steps, deadlines, and any conditions such as reporting to police or credit bureaus
Family and child features
Aura’s comparison page describes family protection for up to five adults and an unlimited number of children. Its pricing page notes that child members receive online-account and Social Security number monitoring, and lists parental controls and child wellbeing features. Adults receive the broader benefits listed for the plan.
Cloaked’s feature page labels Family Sharing as coming soon. If a household-wide plan is your main need, treat Aura as the currently described option and confirm Cloaked’s status directly before you decide.

Cloaked pricing
The Cloaked pages reviewed for October 2026 do not give a reconciled standard-price schedule, so no current Cloaked plan price is stated here.
Checking price before you buy
- Open each company’s plan page directly rather than relying on a comparison summary.
- Note the first-year price and the regular price, and confirm when any promotional discount ends.
- Check how many adults, children, and devices the plan covers.
- Confirm that your country is eligible at the start of checkout, not after you have entered payment details.
Which service fits your situation
- Your main concern is spam calls and keeping your real number private. Cloaked’s alias model and Call Guard are built for this. Check that your phone and country are supported before you commit.
- Your main concern is someone opening accounts or taking over your credit. Aura’s credit monitoring, identity-theft insurance, and fraud-related features form the more complete listed set, subject to the policy terms described above.
- You want one subscription for the whole household. Aura lists family plans and child features. Cloaked’s Family Sharing is not yet available according to its feature page.
- You want to remove existing listings from data brokers. Both services offer removal. Compare their scope and process using the questions in the data-removal section, not the headline counts.
- You live outside the United States and Canada. Aura lists United States availability only, and Cloaked lists the United States and Canada.
If you want a single subscription with the broadest listed set of protections, Aura is the stronger fit. If you want to stop exposing your real contact details to businesses and callers, Cloaked is the more focused tool.
