The Cli-Mate CLI-DH8D is a discontinued desiccant dehumidifier with a published extraction claim of 8 litres per day and a stated operating range of 5–37°C. Its specifications suggest it was designed for smaller indoor spaces, but the public evidence does not establish how well it performed in independent testing. CHOICE lists the model as discontinued and keeps its expert rating and measured results behind membership.
Is the Cli-Mate CLI-DH8D any good?
There is not enough public independent test data to give the CLI-DH8D a reliable performance verdict. CHOICE identifies it as a desiccant model and publishes its claimed extraction rate and operating temperature range, but restricts its expert rating and measured results to members. That includes water removal, energy efficiency, ease of use, room heating, power consumption, noise and measured tank capacity. It would be misleading to call the unit a CHOICE winner or to treat its claimed extraction as a tested result. CHOICE’s CLI-DH8D review lists the model as discontinued.
Retailer specifications provide a useful outline of the appliance, not a substitute for comparable testing. Appliances Online lists a 650-watt draw, a 2-litre tank, a room size of approximately 30 m² and noise of 50 dB. Those are published listing figures; the public information does not establish that they were measured using a standard test comparable with current models. Appliances Online’s product listing also shows a 4.6/5 average from 16 customer reviews in its listing snapshot, with review dates from 2018–2019. Customer ratings are anecdotal feedback, not controlled performance tests.

How does it work in a cold room?
CHOICE lists the CLI-DH8D’s operating range as 5–37°C. Because it is a desiccant dehumidifier, it may be relevant to rooms where temperature is a key consideration, but the published range alone does not show how quickly or efficiently it removes moisture at any particular temperature. The public CHOICE page does not reveal the model’s measured room-heating or water-removal results. Treat the 8 L/day figure as a claim, not an assurance of what it will collect in your room.
What controls and drainage options does it have?
The manufacturer-branded CLI-DH8D instruction book describes low/quiet, normal and fast operating speeds; humidity selections of 40%, 50% and 60%; an ioniser; and timer options. The manual says the unit starts in continuous dehumidification mode.

It can collect water in its reservoir, or use an optional hose for continuous drainage. The manual describes the hose as an extra option; compatibility and current replacement-part availability are not established here. For a used unit, follow the instructions supplied with that appliance.
How should you set it up safely?
The manual copy hosted by Appliances Online says to use the appliance indoors on a flat, stable surface, keep it at least 30 cm from walls or other appliances, and leave the air grilles unobstructed. Do not block the intake or outlet: restricted airflow conflicts with the manual’s operating guidance. Check the exact manual for your unit before use, particularly if it is second-hand.

Is the CLI-DH8D still available?
CHOICE marks the model discontinued. That does not establish whether a particular retailer or private seller has old stock, a used unit or a refurbished one; current inventory was not verified. Before buying a pre-owned example, check that its tank, controls and drain arrangement are present and working, and confirm that the supplied instructions match the unit. The sources do not establish current parts support or warranty coverage.

- Controls, warranty, parts support and actual current availability.
Do not directly compare the CLI-DH8D’s retailer-listed 50 dB or 8 L/day claim with a current model’s test result unless the conditions and measurement methods are comparable.
