Anthropic’s available official material does not verify the stated Haiku 5.5 rates or its 100K-token pricing threshold. The Haiku 5.5 figures—$0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens up to 100K, then $0.50 and $2.50—should not be treated as confirmed. For Haiku 4.5, Anthropic’s launch announcement gives $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens, but official pricing displays retrieved for this comparison conflict about the current rate.

Are Haiku 5.5’s stated token prices confirmed?

No. The official Anthropic material available for this comparison does not confirm either Haiku 5.5’s model status and availability or the stated rates and 100K-token threshold. Anthropic’s pricing page could not be directly verified for those claims. Until an accessible official source confirms them, treat the figures as unverified rather than as current API prices.

The threshold also needs a precise definition before it can guide an estimate: the available evidence does not establish whether “100K” refers to input tokens, total request tokens, or another measure. Do not assume that a request’s price switches tiers based on a particular token count.

What does Anthropic say Haiku 4.5 costs?

Anthropic’s Haiku 4.5 launch announcement states: “Pricing is now $1/$5 per million input and output tokens.” That is launch-pricing evidence, not proof that those rates are the current rates for every platform or billing arrangement.

There is a discrepancy in Anthropic pricing material: the opened Claude Platform pricing documentation showed Haiku 4.5 at $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens, while a search-result rendering of that same documentation displayed $0.50 and $2.50. The search-result display does not resolve which price currently applies. Check the live official pricing page and the model-specific entry before budgeting.

Price comparison: confirmed versus unverified

Model or claim Input price per million tokens Output price per million tokens Threshold Evidence status
Haiku 5.5, up to 100K tokens $0.10 claimed; not confirmed $0.50 claimed; not confirmed Meaning and application of 100K not established Not verified in accessible official material
Haiku 5.5, above 100K tokens $0.50 claimed; not confirmed $2.50 claimed; not confirmed Meaning and application of 100K not established Not verified in accessible official material
Haiku 4.5 $1 in Anthropic’s launch announcement and opened pricing documentation; conflicting search-result display shows $0.50 $5 in Anthropic’s launch announcement and opened pricing documentation; conflicting search-result display shows $2.50 No threshold established by the cited launch-pricing statement Launch rate is documented; current rate is unresolved

These are per-token-category rates, not a single blended cost. A workload’s estimate depends on how many input and output tokens it uses, and on which model price is actually applicable. The evidence here does not support calculating a current Haiku 5.5 bill from the advertised tiers.

What to verify before estimating API spend

  • Model identity and availability: Confirm that Anthropic lists Haiku 5.5 and provides a model-specific pricing entry. Do not infer availability from Haiku 4.5 documentation.
  • Input and output rates: Read the two rates separately in the live pricing entry, and note when that page was checked.
  • Threshold rule: Confirm whether the 100K limit applies to input tokens, total request size, or another measure, and whether the higher rate applies to all tokens or only tokens beyond the limit. The available official material does not answer these questions for Haiku 5.5.
  • Deployment and endpoint: Anthropic’s Haiku 4.5 announcement names the Claude API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud Vertex AI as ways to use that model. It does not establish Haiku 5.5 availability or identical billing on those services.
  • Other pricing categories: Anthropic’s pricing documentation separates base input, prompt-cache writes, cache hits, and output. It also describes possible 10% premiums for regional and multi-region endpoints compared with global endpoints for covered model families. Confirm applicability to the specific model, endpoint, and deployment before including those adjustments in a Haiku 5.5 estimate.
