Claude Code does not automatically carry every detail from one coding session into the next. In this workflow, Obsidian serves as a place to keep project notes and other working context in files that can be revisited when a new session starts. The goal is continuity—not permanent model memory.
What this persistent-context setup is for
Said Nasser describes the problem as “Claude starting new sessions without enough context from previous work.” The proposed solution is to keep useful context in an Obsidian vault so it can be found and used in a later Claude Code session. The creator’s article describes the vault as a home for memory, journal entries, unfinished tasks, commands, skills, and scripts.
That makes the vault a human-readable record of work, rather than a guarantee that Claude remembers everything. A later session still needs access to relevant files and enough direction to use them. The creator says a new session can locate relevant files and continue work, but the available account does not establish exactly how that retrieval is implemented in the linked repository.

The creator says the video walks through setup and includes a session-recovery test. The test is presented as a demonstration of the continuity idea, not as a measured reliability result. Its detailed steps and outcome have not been independently verified here, so no particular recovery rate or universal success claim is established.

For readers following the project, the repository named in the title is seestack-dev/claude-obsidian-memory, and the walkthrough is the session-recovery video. Treat the repository’s own current files as authoritative for its setup and capabilities.
Do not confuse it with a similarly named repository
A README for a project with the same name under a different GitHub owner, mikessh, describes a Claude Code plugin that mirrors memory files and CLAUDE.md into an Obsidian vault. That README also describes push and pull commands, conflict handling, and a SessionStart reminder, and says synchronization is not automatic. Those details are specific to the mikessh README; they are not verified features of the seestack-dev repository linked above. Confirm the owner and repository before relying on any implementation instructions.

How to assess a context workflow before relying on it
Whether you use this repository or build a similar routine, check the practical behavior that matters to your projects:
- Storage: Identify which notes and project files hold the context, and whether you can inspect and maintain them directly.
- Retrieval: Determine how a fresh Claude Code session is directed to relevant files. Do not assume that storing a note means a new session will automatically find it.
- Updates: Check whether changes made during a session are written back, and whether any transfer between Claude Code and Obsidian is one-way or two-way.
- Conflicts and stale notes: Find out what happens when the same material changes in more than one place, and how outdated instructions are identified.
- Sync controls: Establish whether synchronization is automatic or user-triggered, and what the user needs to do before starting a session on another device.
- Portability: Consider whether the context remains readable and usable outside the particular plugin or workflow.
These checks are more useful than assuming a persistent-context system is reliable simply because it has a recovery demonstration. The available sources provide no controlled comparison, benchmark, or productivity measurement.
