Claude Code can work with browser tools through integrations, including browser automation MCP servers, but Anthropic’s documentation does not say that Claude Code can automatically attach to a browser you have already logged into or reuse its website cookies. To use a signed-in site, choose a browser integration and check its own instructions for existing-profile access and session persistence.
How Claude Code can interact with a browser
Anthropic describes browser interaction as a tool workflow rather than a built-in promise to take over an existing browser. Its prompting guidance says: “Tools that let Claude verify UI work are helpful, such as the computer use tool, the browser use tool, or a browser automation MCP server.” Anthropic’s prompting best practices frame these tools as ways to verify interface work.
Claude Code can connect to external tools through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). You select and configure a compatible server separately; the fact that Claude Code supports MCP does not mean a browser connection is already installed or that all browser tools behave the same way. See Anthropic’s MCP connection guide and the Claude Code CLI reference for the integration and permission framework.

Not necessarily. The cited Anthropic documentation does not establish that Claude Code can inherit a logged-in browser profile, reuse site cookies, or keep a website session between runs. Those capabilities depend on the browser-use tool or MCP server you choose.
#1 Best Overall
Before relying on an existing login, check the integration’s current documentation for these specific points:
- Can it attach to an existing browser profile, or does it launch a separate browser instance?
- Does the website’s login state persist between runs?
- How does the integration authenticate, and where are credentials or session data stored?
- Which browser actions are exposed to Claude Code, and which require your approval?
Do not assume an OAuth prompt for a remote MCP server transfers a website login. OAuth may authenticate the connection to the tool; the sources do not say that it imports an already signed-in website session.

Keep Claude Code login separate from website login
Claude Code’s account or enterprise sign-in provides access to Claude Code. It is a separate authentication step from logging in to a website inside a browser. Anthropic’s Claude Code setup guide covers Claude Code authentication options, but does not say those credentials sign you into websites or let browser automation reuse their sessions.

Set up browser access cautiously
- Choose a browser-use tool or browser automation MCP server. Confirm that it supports the kind of browser and site interaction you need.
- Configure it as an external tool for Claude Code. Follow the integration’s own setup steps and check its documentation for profile access, login handling, and session persistence.
- Review the permissions before using it. Claude Code provides controls for allowed and disallowed tools. Grant only the access needed for the task, and check the current CLI reference for the behavior of your installed version.
- Test the session behavior in the chosen integration. Verify whether it opens the expected profile and remains authenticated; do not infer persistence from having logged in once.
The CLI reference also documents a flag that skips permission prompts. That is a distinct choice from configuring browser access, not a guarantee that an integration can reuse your login. Avoid treating unattended browser actions as the default: understand what the server can do and what approvals your setup will require.
