The Clarke CAMAX24 is a 24-inch drum fan built for indoor workspaces, and it is a sensible shortlist candidate if your space is dry, ventilated and large enough to justify a unit of this size and weight. It is not a fan to put in a dusty garage, an extraction system or a humid room. The figures below come from Clarke’s own product page and operation manual. No independent airflow, noise or energy test is reported here, and the one review that praises the fan is a sponsored piece, so its verdict is treated as a retailer-backed opinion rather than evidence.
What Clarke specifies for the CAMAX24
The table lists every published figure for the CAMAX24 and where each one comes from. Clarke’s product page was only partly readable when checked, so the product-page entries are marked as such. The manual (Operation & Maintenance Instructions, Issue 3) covers the CAMAX24, CAMAX30 and CAMAX36 together and was checked directly.

Two airflow numbers with different conditions
The CAMAX24 carries two airflow figures, and they measure different things. Do not add them together or treat one as a correction of the other.
- Maximum airflow, 274 m³/min: the top figure Clarke gives across the fan’s range. It describes the fan’s capability under the conditions Clarke uses, not what reaches a bench or a corner of a workshop.
- Rated airflow, 1.116 m³/s: stated only for operation at optimum energy efficiency, with a rated air pressure of 110 Pa under the same condition. It is in different units and a different operating point from the maximum figure.
What matters for a buyer is how far the air needs to travel and how much of the room must move. Clarke’s documents do not give a throw distance or coverage area for any model, so room-level performance cannot be read from these numbers alone.
Noise: what 87 dB(A) LwA does and does not tell you
Clarke’s manual gives a sound-power rating of 87 dB(A) LwA for the CAMAX24. Sound power describes the total acoustic output of the fan as a source. The sound level you hear depends on distance, room size, hard surfaces and the speed setting you choose. Clarke’s stated figure does not give a listener-position reading, and no independent noise measurement is reported here. Treat the rating as a basis for comparing fans of the same kind, and expect the fan to be clearly audible in a working space.

Where the CAMAX24 fits and where it does not
Clarke rates the CAMAX24 for indoor use only, so the question for most buyers is which indoor spaces are suitable.
Large indoor workshops and workspaces
This is the use the fan is designed for. A dry, reasonably ventilated workshop, where the air is not loaded with dust, fumes or water vapour, matches the manufacturer’s stated conditions. Its 23.5 kg weight and 740 × 280 × 755 mm footprint are manageable for a room that can hold a large floor fan, but the unit is not light to carry around.
Garages
A garage is indoors, but it is often the dusty, humid, chemical-laden space that Clarke warns against. Sawdust, paint or solvent fumes, damp concrete and condensation can each rule the fan out. Before using it in a garage, check that the space is clean, dry and free of fumes, and that you are not using the fan to push contaminated air through a building.

Locations to avoid
- Any dusty environment or room where chemical fumes are present.

- Extractor use, meaning the fan used to remove air from a space.
- Any setup that connects the fan to ducting.
CAMAX24 against CAMAX30 and CAMAX36
Clarke’s manual covers two larger models. The table compares the three on the figures the manual gives. Cells marked “not stated” are values that the manual does not list for that model.
| Model | Maximum airflow | Weight | Power consumption | Dimensions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CAMAX24 | 274 m³/min | 23.5 kg | 330 W | 740 × 280 × 755 mm |
| CAMAX30 | 401 m³/min | 34.2 kg | Not stated in Clarke’s manual | Not stated in Clarke’s manual |
| CAMAX36 | 455 m³/min | 40.7 kg | Not stated in Clarke’s manual | Not stated in Clarke’s manual |
The step up in airflow comes with a step up in weight. The CAMAX30 is about 10.7 kg heavier than the CAMAX24, and the CAMAX36 about 17.2 kg heavier. Choose the CAMAX24 when your space is limited, the fan must be moved by one person, or the room is modest in size. Choose a larger model only if the extra airflow is needed and you can accommodate the extra weight and footprint.
Price, availability and the sponsored review
The matching review on Visordown, by Phil West and dated 8 October 2026, reports a price of £209.99 and availability from Machine Mart. The page is labelled as sponsored by Machine Mart. Price and stock change, so check the current figure with the retailer before buying. The review repeats Clarke’s specifications and gives a favourable overall assessment, but it does not describe a test method or show measurements taken by the reviewer.
The review quotes Clarke’s line that the fan is “Designed to create the maximum airflow output yet be extremely efficient and meet the latest energy standards”. That is a manufacturer claim, repeated in a sponsored article. It is not independent verification of efficiency or airflow.

The CAMAX24 is rated for 230 V, 50 Hz. If you live where the mains supply differs, confirm electrical compatibility before buying; a plug adapter does not change the fan’s electrical rating. The manual also says not to use a solid-state speed controller with the fan, so select speed by the fan’s own settings.

Clarke’s manual includes the following safety requirements:
- Read the manual thoroughly before first use. Clarke’s wording is: “Before attempting to use this product, please read this manual thoroughly and follow the instructions carefully.”
- Unplug the fan before moving it, cleaning it or carrying out any maintenance.
- Never run the fan without its guards in place.
- Have repairs carried out by a suitably qualified person.
Who should buy the CAMAX24
The CAMAX24 suits a buyer who needs a large, portable indoor fan for a dry, ventilated workshop or workspace, and who accepts that the performance figures are the manufacturer’s rather than independently tested. It is a poor choice for dusty garages, fume-laden rooms, humid spaces or any ducted or extraction job. If the room needs more airflow than the CAMAX24 can provide on paper, the CAMAX30 or CAMAX36 are the next steps up, with the added weight and size described above.
