The CITIZEN AQ4091-56W is a 40 mm Eco-Drive watch with a hand-dyed green Tosa washi paper dial, a Super Titanium case and bracelet, and a worldwide edition of 650 pieces. Citizen scheduled its launch for May 2026; the US product page showed the watch as sold out on October 3, 2026, so availability depends on market and current stock.
What makes the AQ4091-56W dial unusual?
The dial is made from Tosa washi, traditional Japanese paper, dyed by artisans. Citizen says they first use yellow dye from ibuki kariyasu grass and then indigo to create a deep green called chitose midori. The layered color can appear to shift with the light, giving the paper surface visual depth rather than a uniform metallic finish.
Citizen’s March 19, 2026 global announcement describes the shade as “a traditional Japanese green pigment created through a fusion of indigo and yellow ibuki kariyasu plant dyes.” This is a product description from Citizen Watch Co., Ltd., not a named individual spokesperson’s statement.

The AQ4091-56W pairs the paper dial with a 40.0 mm case and bracelet made from Super Titanium treated with Duratect Platinum. Its stated thickness is 12.2 mm, and Citizen lists water resistance at 10 bar.

Citizen says Super Titanium is approximately 40% lighter and approximately five times harder than stainless steel, and highlights its corrosion resistance and skin comfort. Those comparisons are the manufacturer’s claims, not independent measurements of this specific watch.
Is the Citizen green washi watch still available?
Citizen’s global release announced a projected price of USD 3,100 and a scheduled May 2026 launch. Its Japanese announcement listed a planned retail price of JPY 462,000 including tax. These are announced market-specific prices, not a guarantee of current transaction prices elsewhere.

When checked on October 3, 2026, Citizen’s US product page showed the AQ4091-56W as sold out. That status does not establish whether third-party sellers or Citizen retailers in other countries have stock. Check the local Citizen site or authorized retailers for current availability, and confirm authenticity, condition, and price before buying.

The AQ4091-56W is the 40 mm green, hand-dyed Tosa washi model. It is distinct from the AQ4100-65X and AQ4106-00B, which Citizen announced on September 17, 2026, for October release. The AQ4100-65X uses dark red Tosa Tengujoshi paper; the AQ4106-00B uses Unryushi paper with long and gold fibers. Citizen’s announcement gives those later models 38.3 mm cases, so their paper, color, dimensions, and finishes are not interchangeable with the AQ4091-56W.

When comparing these watches, consider the local price and availability alongside the paper type and finishing, case dimensions, movement accuracy and reserve, water resistance, titanium treatment, and edition size. A shared washi-dial theme does not mean the models have the same construction or specifications.
