Chaos Cypher describes citation click-through as a way to inspect which imported source supports a sentence in a Chat answer. Citation markers appear beside grounded sentences; hovering shows source details and a validation status, while clicking opens the cited text chunk or image.
How citation click-through works
In a first-party article published September 18, 2026, Chaos Cypher describes inline citation markers appearing as an answer streams in Chat. The markers are attached to sentences the product says were drawn from the user’s sources in its knowledge graph. This is the company’s feature description, not an independent test of citation accuracy.
Text and image citations look different
A text citation uses a document icon. A citation to an image chunk uses a thumbnail, distinguishing the two kinds of source material at a glance.
Hover to see the citation details
Hovering over a marker is described as revealing the source, page number, and a validation badge. Chaos Cypher defines “Verified” to mean the cited sentence was found in that chunk; “Invalid” means it was not found there.

Click to inspect the source
Clicking a text marker opens a source detail page with the cited chunk highlighted. Clicking an image marker opens the full image. This lets a reader inspect the specific passage or visual rather than treating the generated answer as one indivisible block.
How to try it in Chaos Cypher Chat
-
Ask a question about a document you have already imported into Chaos Cypher.
-
Look for citation markers beside sentences as the answer streams in.
-
Hover over a marker to view the source, page number, and validation status.

Click the marker to open the highlighted text chunk or full image, then compare the source with the answer sentence.
If you have not imported material, Chaos Cypher points readers to its “GraphRAG with Ollama in 10 minutes” quickstart. The ten-minute phrasing is part of that quickstart’s title, not a verified completion estimate for every device or user.

What the feature does—and does not—establish
Citation click-through offers a described route from an answer sentence to the source material associated with it. A “Verified” badge has the specific meaning Chaos Cypher assigns it: that the sentence was found in the cited chunk. It should not be taken as proof that the sentence is complete, correctly interpreted, or accurate in a broader context.
The September 18, 2026 first-party feature article does not report independent tests, citation-accuracy rates, user-trust outcomes, or measured reductions in hallucinations. It also does not establish behavior across every supported file type or release. Denis, identified in the article as Chaos Cypher’s founder, summarizes the intended interaction this way: “In plain English: if Chaos Cypher tells you something, you can check it — one click, straight to the sentence.”
