CISA added F5 BIG-IP Access Policy Manager (APM) vulnerability CVE-2026-94127 to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog on September 22, 2026, citing evidence of active exploitation. The available advisories confirm exploitation in the wild, but do not establish that this specific flaw was exploited on both federal and private networks or identify confirmed victims. Administrators should check their BIG-IP APM branch and version against the affected releases and apply the applicable F5 hotfix.
What CISA confirmed about the F5 vulnerability
CVE-2026-94127 is a heap-based buffer overflow affecting BIG-IP APM. CISA’s September 22, 2026 notice says it added the vulnerability to KEV based on evidence of active exploitation. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security’s advisory says F5 reported that the flaw was being exploited in the wild.
Those statements confirm exploitation, not the breadth of victim impact. The reviewed official notices do not name affected organizations, count victims, or establish that this CVE was exploited on both federal and private networks. The headline’s federal-and-private-network framing should therefore not be treated as a confirmed victim list or scope assessment.

Match the appliance’s exact APM branch and installed release to the vendor’s current security advisory, F5 advisory K000162605. The thresholds above are engineering hotfix identifiers, not a general instruction to install a different branch or assume that a later-looking version is suitable. Confirm applicability and installation guidance with F5 for your environment.
What administrators should do
- Identify the installed branch and release. Check the BIG-IP APM version in each affected environment and compare it with the branch thresholds listed above.
- Verify the vendor’s current guidance. Review F5 advisory K000162605 and confirm which hotfix applies to the exact release in use.
- Apply the applicable update. The Canadian Centre advises users and administrators to review the linked information and apply necessary updates. Contact F5 support if you need guidance for mitigation or update planning.
The reviewed notices do not supply exploit prerequisites, indicators of compromise, or additional mitigation instructions. Do not infer those details from the vulnerability’s KEV listing; use F5’s current advisory and support guidance for operational decisions.

What CISA’s KEV listing means for organizations
CISA’s notice connects the KEV addition to federal vulnerability-management requirements under Binding Operational Directive 26-04, which applies to Federal Civilian Executive Branch agencies. CISA also encourages all organizations to use risk-based vulnerability management and prioritize vulnerabilities in KEV. That wider recommendation is not the same as saying the directive binds every private organization.

A separate event helps explain concern about F5 products but is not evidence of exploitation of CVE-2026-94127. A FedRAMP response dated October 15, 2025, relayed CISA Emergency Directive 26-01’s account of a nation-state-affiliated actor compromising F5 systems and potentially using access to source code and vulnerability information to aid future exploitation. The directive described an imminent threat to federal networks using F5 devices and software. It did not establish that the 2026 APM vulnerability was exploited on those networks.
