On October 7, 2026, Circle and SAP-backed financial services company Tereina announced a partnership to integrate Circle’s USDC and EURC stablecoins into Tereina’s payments infrastructure, starting with SAP Cloud ERP. Circle says eligible SAP customers can reach the integration through SAP Pay. This is an announced integration with planned customer validation work. The announcement does not document a live production rollout or name any customer that is using it.

What was announced

The stated goal is to let eligible businesses use Circle’s stablecoin infrastructure from business applications they already run, rather than adopting a separate system for stablecoin payments. In practical terms, the pitch is that a finance team working inside SAP would not need a standalone crypto platform to send or receive stablecoin-based payments.

The starting point is SAP Cloud ERP, with access through SAP Pay. Circle’s announcement is the primary source for these details, and it describes blockchain-based settlement along with possible global payments and treasury uses. It is a high-level description, not an implementation guide.

Planned next steps, not completed milestones

Circle and Tereina said they plan joint proof-of-value programs with customers, training for treasury and payments specialists, and work with ecosystem partners over the coming months. Those are stated intentions. The announcement sets no production go-live date and identifies no pilot customers.

What is and is not established

Readers often want to know whether they can use this today. The answer depends on what the announcement actually specifies, and it specifies less than the headline suggests. The table below separates the points the release states from the details it leaves open.

Topic What the October 7, 2026 announcement states What it leaves open
Partnership Circle and Tereina announced an integration of USDC and EURC into Tereina’s payments infrastructure Nothing further on the commercial terms of the partnership
First product surface SAP Cloud ERP, accessed via SAP Pay Whether other SAP products are planned, and on what timeline
Customer eligibility Access is described as available to eligible SAP customers Not stated: what makes a customer eligible
Geography Not stated Not stated: supported jurisdictions and payment corridors
Fees and settlement speed Blockchain-based settlement is described in general terms Not stated: fee schedule, settlement times, and performance data
Implementation Joint proof-of-value programs and specialist training are planned for the coming months Not stated: activation steps, counterparty requirements, and technical controls
Live customers No pilot or production customers are named Not stated

Because eligibility and geography are not defined, do not assume the service is available to every SAP customer or in every country. Anyone who wants to use it should confirm eligibility directly with Circle, Tereina, or SAP.

Why USDC and EURC play different roles

The announcement assigns each stablecoin a distinct role. USDC is positioned as the preferred stablecoin for eligible USD-denominated workflows. EURC is offered as an option for euro-denominated activity. The two are not presented as interchangeable, and the announcement does not say that either one guarantees a particular transfer speed, cost, or availability.

Asset Announced currency role Not established by the announcement
USDC Preferred stablecoin for eligible USD-denominated workflows Corridors, fees, and settlement times for any specific payment route
EURC Option for euro-denominated activity Corridors, fees, and settlement times for any specific payment route

The announcement also states that USDC and EURC are issued by regulated affiliates of Circle and links to Circle’s regulatory authorizations page for that information. Check that page for the current licensing position before relying on it for compliance decisions.

The “84% of global commerce” figure

The announcement says the SAP ecosystem “generates 84% of global commerce.” This is Circle’s own claim. The release does not explain how the figure was calculated, what period it covers, or whether an independent source checked it. Treat it as a marketing statistic about the reach of the ecosystem, not as a measured result of this integration.

What the executives said

Circle’s Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO, said: “Stablecoins are increasingly becoming a core infrastructure layer for global commerce.” He also said that “Working with Tereina to bring USDC and EURC into the applications that enterprises already use is an important step toward making internet-native money easier to integrate into everyday business operations.”

Tereina’s CEO, Cedric Bru, said: “Tereina is built on the core belief that the future of financial services is agentic, embedded, and digital.” He added: “This partnership with Circle makes it easy to move into the future without changing how businesses already operate — stablecoin payments become a native feature of the applications they already trust.”

How to read this announcement

  • Treat it as a partnership announcement. It confirms that the two companies agreed to integrate USDC and EURC with Tereina’s infrastructure, starting with SAP Cloud ERP.
  • Do not read it as a launch. It names no production date and no customers.
  • Ask specific questions before planning around it. Eligibility, supported countries and corridors, fees, settlement mechanics, and controls are the points the announcement leaves open.
  • Keep the currency roles separate. USDC is for eligible USD-denominated workflows and EURC is for euro-denominated activity.

What would change this picture

The details that matter most will come from Circle, Tereina, or SAP, not from the headline. Useful signals would include a named customer going live, published eligibility rules, a list of supported jurisdictions, and a published fee schedule. Until those appear, the accurate summary is that a partnership has been announced and a set of customer programs has been planned.
