Why is Highway 99 called a Central Valley freight route?

State Route 99 runs through California’s Central Valley and carries heavy commercial traffic, according to trade publication FreightWaves. The available account gives no freight-volume statistic, so it does not support a numerical estimate of truck traffic on this stretch. The route context does not establish that freight traffic caused this collision. FreightWaves’ route account describes the corridor qualitatively.
