The A18 Pro in the iPhone 16 Pro leads the A15 Bionic in the iPhone 13 Pro Max on Geekbench 6’s current user-submitted chart: 2,898 versus 2,113 in single-core performance, and 7,801 versus 5,473 in multi-core performance. Those figures show a substantial CPU gap between these listed phones, not a controlled, chip-only test. A15 results also vary by iPhone model.
Which iPhones use these chips?
Apple’s UK comparison page identifies the A18 Pro with the iPhone 16 Pro generation and lists the A15 Bionic in multiple earlier iPhones. That matters because a benchmark result belongs to a phone running a chip, not to an abstract processor divorced from its device.
Apple lists some A15 models with a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine, while other A15 models have a 4-core GPU. The page’s listed A15 configurations therefore are not all identical. See Apple’s iPhone model comparison for its device specifications.
Geekbench 6 CPU scores: A18 Pro leads the listed A15 phones
Geekbench’s iPhone chart is made up of user-submitted Geekbench 6 results. The chart values below were accessed on October 7, 2026; they can change as submissions are added. The scores are a snapshot, not a fixed laboratory result.

Against the iPhone 13 Pro Max entry, the iPhone 16 Pro’s score is about 37% higher in single-core and 43% higher in multi-core, calculated from the listed chart values. That is a comparison of these two chart entries—not a guaranteed uplift for every A18 Pro phone versus every A15 phone. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 Plus entries also show why “the A15 score” is not one universal number.
Geekbench gathers these results from different users and devices, rather than testing every model under controlled, identical conditions. The phone model, software, thermal behavior and individual submission can affect results. Check the live Geekbench iPhone chart when you need the latest entries.

What the graphics comparison suggests
NanoReview reports 3DMark Solar Bay scores of 7,585 for A18 Pro and 3,765 for A15 Bionic, with graphics test results of 29 FPS and 14 FPS, respectively. These figures suggest a sizeable graphics lead for the A18 Pro in that comparison, but they should be treated more cautiously than a controlled same-condition test: NanoReview’s table includes user tests and does not establish that both chips were tested in matched devices under identical conditions.

How to decide whether the performance difference matters
If you are choosing whether to move from an A15 iPhone to an A18 Pro model, compare the actual phones you could buy—such as an iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro against an iPhone 16 Pro—not only their chip names. Benchmarks indicate performance capacity; they do not establish that an upgrade is worth a particular price for your needs.
- Workload: Consider whether your everyday apps feel constrained, or whether you regularly use demanding games and other intensive tasks.
- Condition and battery: For a used phone, check its physical condition and battery health rather than assuming chip age tells the whole story.
- Display and camera: Compare the specific models’ screen and camera features; a chip score cannot capture those differences.
- Storage and software: Check the storage configuration and confirm that the particular model supports the software and features you need.
- Price: Compare the current price of the complete phones in your market. Apple’s comparison page is useful for listed device features, but it does not establish current retail prices or stock.
The benchmark gap is clearest as a performance comparison: the listed iPhone 16 Pro scores higher than the listed A15 phones, but the best upgrade choice depends on the condition, features and cost of the specific devices.
